WATCH: AOC Says America Needs Millions Of Illegal Immigrants A Year To Do 'Agricultural Work'

During a recent telephone town hall with her New York City constituents earlier this month, Rep. Alexandria Ocascio Cortez (D-NY) explained that the rate of illegal immigration in the country under the Biden-Harris administration is a good thing because the American economy needs migrants to work in the agricultural industry or as health care aides. The comments come after tens of millions of illegal immigrants have crossed the southern border over the past three years.

"I want to communicate to you all what some of my top priorities have been. In terms of progressive priorities and in terms of our local district. When we talk about and look at the asylum seeker crisis or the refugee crisis that we are seeing in terms of many people that are coming into the United States, but not just asylumees, but also here in New York City. You know, on a macroeconomic level, we actually do need this level of immigration right now due to the labor shortages that we have," the New York progressive said. "We still have millions of open positions in the United States that are largely suited for first-generation families. So the kinds of work that a lot of people start their American story, their families American story with, whether that's home health care aides or whether it's agricultural work."

While Vice President Kamala Harris attempts to claim that she will be tough on the border once she's elected president, AOC showcases where the Democratic Party really is on the issue of immigration. AOC's advocacy for unfettered illegal immigration into this country goes hand-in-hand with the Democrat effort to undermine the American worker by allowing migrants to take American jobs, increase the price of housing and rent, and decrease the overall wages earned by hard-working Americans.

"The destruction is intentional," author James Lindsay wrote about AOC's remarks. "Marxists believe conflict and misery drive the advancement of history towards Communism." The 'Squad' Democrat's statement highlights the contradictions with the progressive caucus of the Democratic Party. While advocating for the "rights" of migrants and people of color, AOC stands in support of big businesses exploiting cheap labor for profit instead of hiring Americans. Despite her claims to the contrary, AOC, like many of her colleagues who have uttered similar comments in the past, proves that Democrats are more on the side of large multinational corporations reliant on cheap migrant labor than the everyday American attempting to survive in the Biden-Harris economy.
