On Wednesday, President Joe Biden delivered prepared remarks at North America's Building Trade Union National Legislative Conference in Washington, D.C. However, during Biden's remarks, the 81-year-old Democrat had yet another embarrassing gaffe, this time reading the stage directions from the teleprompter.
"Imagine what we could do next. Four more years. Pause," Biden said before the audience broke into chants of "Four more years!" The clearly staged chant and Biden's embarrsing gaffe shows once again that the elderly president's support is manufactured to some extent. When the sitting president of the United States is unable to get through a prepared speech without a blatant misstep, America should be worried and most Americans are.
According to a recent poll from the Associated Press, 63 percent of respondents said they are "not very or not at all confident" in President Biden's mental capabilities. Broken down by party, Biden has lost the confidence of 32 percent of Democrats, 80 percent of independents, and 91 percent of Republicans.
That, however, didn't stop North America's Building Trades Unions (NABTU) President Sean McGarvey from endorsing the Biden-Harris campaign during the conference. "North America's Building Trades Unions can honestly say no elected official has shown our members and their families more respect than President Joe Biden," McGarvey said in a statement. "Through his policies and his personnel, President Biden has demonstrated his laser-like focus on not only rebuilding our nation's infrastructure and manufacturing sector but rebuilding the American middle class itself."
The NABTU president also said that his organization would not attempt to even reach out to Trump supporters within its ranks,, telling MSNBC's 'Morning Joe,' "We’re not gonna waste a lot of time talking to every American that supports Donald Trump, and we’re not gonna waste a lot of time with some of our members that support Donald Trump, because we’re not gonna change their minds."
While Biden has secured another union endorsement, his gaffe at the conference is a worrying sign for Democrats attempting to get Biden over the finish line. If Biden were reelected in November, he would continue to be the oldest commander-in-chief in American history and would be 86 when he left office in January 2029.
