On Thursday evening, President Biden and President Trump faced off in the first presidential debate of the 2024 campaign. During the debate, Biden repeated the widely debunked lie that Trump called neo-Nazis who marched in Charlottesville in 2017 "fine people."
Despite multiple news outlets and the fact-checking organization Snopes repeatedly debunking the claim, Biden, who launched his 2020 campaign around the lie, refused to reverse it, and the CNN moderators refused to push back on the blatant falsehood.
