WATCH: Biden Wanders Into Hostage Plane As Harris Watches In Amazement - 'Tried To Board The Wrong Plane'

On Thursday evening, President Joe Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris traveled to Joint Base Andrews in Maryland to welcome home the American hostages who had been held in captivity by Russia for years. After the hostages debarked from the plane, President Biden seemingly wandered off and got on the plane that had delivered the hostages as Kamala Harris watched on.

After slowly boarding the short staircase to the plane, Biden spent nearly two minutes in the aircraft as the vice president and Secret Service waited for him to return to the tarmac. While some have asserted that the 81-year-old Biden was thanking the flight crew, the possibility that he was confused isn't out of the realm of possibility. The clip quickly circulated on social media, and conservative commentators criticized the president for the error.

"SUNDOWN JOE: Confused Biden walks into an empty plane for no reason," The First on TV posted to X. Others on X theorized that Biden believed he was getting on Air Force One. "Joe Biden tried to board the wrong plane," Ian Haworth posted. "He's still president, btw."

"You can bet secret service didn't see this coming? Looks like a scene right out of the movie' Airplane,'" Juanita Braddrick wrote. "Did he think he was boarding short stairs of Air Force One?"

"Biden walked onto the plane after the prisoners got off," Human Events Senior Editor Jack Posobiec wrote. "Did he think he was being exchanged to Russia??"

As previously reported by the DC Enquirer, the prisoner swap saw the release of Wall Street Journal reporter Evan Gershkovich, Marine veteran Paul Whelan, and Russian-American radio journalist Alsu Kurmasheva to the United States. At the same time, 12 political dissidents, one of whom likely would have been Putin's opposition leader Alexie Navalny if he had not died in prison earlier this year, were released to Germany.

"After enduring unimaginable suffering and uncertainty, the Americans detained in Russia are safe, free, and have begun their journeys back into the arms of their families," President Biden said about the deal. The hostage swap, one of the largest since the Cold War, had been under negotiation for a year and a half and finally concluded on a tarmac in Ankara, Turkey.

In return, the Russians will receive eight of its citizens, including Vadim Konoshchenok, Vladislav Klyushin, and Roman Seleznyov. According to CBS News, one of the most notable Russian prisoners sent back home was Vadim Krasikov, who successfully carried out an order in Germany in 2021 by the Russian government to murder a Georgian asylee who fought Russia during the Second Chechnya War.

While the prisoner swap was a historic achievement for the Biden administration, the clip of Biden going viral on social media is a reminder to the public that this administration knowingly hid Biden's mental decline and Vice President Harris was in on it.
