WATCH: Brooklyn School Cancels In-Person Classes To House Illegal Migrants In High School Gym - 'Our Community Cannot Handle This Crisis'

On Tuesday, nearly 2,000 migrants were temporarily moved by the state of New York to be housed at the James Madison High School in Brooklyn after a migrant camp in Floyd Bennett Field was forced to evacuate following poor weather conditions.

According to a message sent to parents by the school district, students will be forced to move to remote learning on Wednesday as hundreds of migrants sleep in the school's gym. In response to the decision, New York City Council Member Inna Vernikov (R) slammed the decision, explaining in a statement, "This is both unacceptable and entirely foreseeable, as Floyd Benet Field is vulnerable to all forms of inclement weather conditions and is not a sustainable housing facility. This emergency was accurately predicted by critics of the Floyd Bennett field as a location to be used as a migrant shelter. Our public schools are meant to be places of learning and growth for our children and were never intended to be shelters or facilities for emergency housing."

New York State Assembly candidate Colonel Thomas Sullivan (R) also slammed the decision, writing, "From the announcement of the migrant camp being placed at Floyd Bennett Field, everyone, except apparently those running the camp, knew it would be a disaster. The recent decision to move the migrants stationed at Floyd Bennett to James Madison High School reveals to us what we already knew: this camp is unsustainable."

"Our community cannot handle this crisis. Cars are being stolen, stores are being robbed, and people are being accosted by migrants begging at their front doors," he continued. "The fact we are spending millions for this camp that makes our community less safe is a slap in the face to all the hard-working families that call Rockaway home."

As New York City continues to prioritize the needs of illegal migrants over the local community, everyday Americans are beginning to realize the devastating impact of the sanctuary city policies that have led to these disastrous decisions.

Even X/Twitter owner Elon Musk commented on the situation, writing, "This is what happens when you run out of hotel rooms. Soon, cities will run out of schools to vacate. Then they will come for your homes."
