On Tuesday, the hosts and commentators at CNN had a complete meltdown after a federal judge in Louisiana passed down a devastating ruling for the Biden administration that blocked any efforts of the Democrat-led regime to communicate with social media companies in hopes of censoring Americans' freedom of speech.
As previously reported by the DC Enquirer, US District Court Judge Terry Doughty ruled that agencies and individuals from the Biden administration may not contact social media companies given the various threats to the First Amendment witnessed during the Coronavirus Pandemic.
“During the COVID-19 pandemic, a period perhaps best characterized by widespread doubt and uncertainty, the United States Government seems to have assumed a role similar to an Orwellian ‘Ministry of Truth,’” the judge explained, referencing George Orwell's dystopian novel, 1984.
“This targeted suppression of conservative ideas is a perfect example of viewpoint discrimination of political speech,” Doughty continued in the 155-page ruling. “American citizens have the right to engage in free debate about the significant issues affecting the country … the evidence produced thus far depicts an almost dystopian scenario.”
In response to this, CNN imploded with hosts saying that the decision was "a dramatic decision."
"Here's what is really astonishing to me. This is a conservative ideology that clearly comes through in this decision. It is a conservative political ideology, right? We saw some of the quotes questioning vaccines, questioning masks, conservative talking points," CNN Senior Legal Analyst Elie Honig said.
"The ruling itself is the opposite of judicial conservatism. It is one of the most aggressive, far-reaching rulings you will ever see," Honig claimed. "What this judge is purporting to do is micromanage the day-to-day interactions between essentially the entire executive branch, all these agencies that are listed as defendants, and the leading social media companies."
Honig went on to explain that the judge only allowed the Biden administration to interact with these social media companies if there is a threat to national security or a crime is taking place, with Honig asking, "Where is the line? Who is going to police this? This is a judge trying to micromanage the day-to-day regular activities of the entire executive branch."
The analyst went on to argue that the decision was an activist decision, however, it is increasingly clear that Judge Doughty simply reestablished the principles of the Constitution to the modern landscape of social media. The federal government has no right to use companies to censor speech that they deem to be misinformation. Freedom of speech is essential to what has made America into what it is today and the executive branch's conspiracy with social media over the past few years may finally begin to unravel.
