WATCH: CNN Host Admits New York Case Against Trump Is Politically Motivated, Prepares Democrats For A Trump Win - 'None Of This Is Playing Out As I Thought'

On Friday, CNN host Fareed Zakaria admitted that Democrats need to start preparing for President Joe Biden to lose the presidential election in November as presumptive GOP nominee Donald Trump dominates poll after poll. Zakaria also said that the New York indictment against Trump is politically motivated and voters, himself included, see through attempts to go after the former president with lawfare.

"I have to admit, none of this is playing out as I thought it would. Trump is now leading in almost all the swing states, but behind those numbers lie even more troubling details. As someone worried about the prospects of a second Trump term, I think it's best to be honest about reality. I understand that polls are not always accurate, but in general, they have tended to underestimate Donald Trump's support, not overestimate it. I doubt that there are any shy Biden voters in the country," Zakaria said, adding that Biden is getting little credit for the recovering economy.

The CNN host then cited a poll from NBC that showed that Trump is trusted overwhelmingly on the economy compared to Biden as inflation continues to persist. Zakaria then explained that Biden's lack of action on the southern border has led to dramatic polling shifts that favor the presumptive GOP nominee.

He then explained that the abortion issue, a culture war battle that cost Republicans a red wave in the 2022 midterms, will likely not be an effective strategy during a presidential campaign since the issue has been sent to the states. The journalist then emphasized the divisive impact of the war in Gaza on the Democrat Party, which has seen progressive activists routinely challenge establishment Democrats to demand a ceasefire. "But there's no denying that the party seems more openly divided than it has been in decades," Zakaria said, adding that Republicans are uniting behind Trump.

Zakaria then shockingly admitted that the hush money case brought against Donald Trump by Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg (D) was politically motivated. "The trials against him keep him in the spotlight, infuriate his base who sees him as a mate, and even may serve to make him the object of some sympathy among people in general who believe that his prosecutors are politically motivated. This happens to be true, in my opinion. I doubt the New York indictment would've been brought against a defendant whose name was not Donald Trump," the anchor said.

The CNN host added that various third-party candidates would also take away votes from President Biden and that if Biden doesn't change course, Democrats could be doomed in November. "Trump could always embroil himself in some kind of scandal, but trendlines are not working in Biden's favor."
