A man in Connecticut fended off four car jackers who were attempting to steal his vehicle in broad daylight last week in Rocky Hill, Connecticut.
The video, captured on a Ring security camera, shows a carjacker opening up the man’s vehicle and starting it before the man runs out and pulls the thief out of the vehicle.
After taking the thief to the ground, a number of others come to the driveway from a black Mercedes sedan to assault the car owner, repeatedly kicking and punching him in the head, as reported by Fox News Digital.
While the thieves were unable to steal the red Infiniti thanks to the owner’s quick reaction, they did end up fleeing the area after another individual inside the house said they were calling the police.
All of the men wore black masks to hide their identities and police are currently investigation, according to NBC Connecticut. Rocky Hill Police Sgt. Jeffrey Foss-Rugan was glad that the car owner was not hurt given the potential for these individuals to carry weapons: ““Thank God that he wasn’t seriously hurt. We’re seeing a lot of these incidents throughout the state and the country that people are intervening, and the suspect may have a weapon.”
“We have a lot of tools at our disposal that we could try to follow up to try to locate these suspects and I know it’s very difficult when you see people break into your cars,” the police sergeant explained, urging people to call 911 rather than confront the thieves.
Police went on to explain that they are increasing patrols in the area and sent a clear message that residents must take precautions. “We’ve got to keep our garages locked. We have to keep the doors locked. We have to keep the valuables out of the car,”
“It’s so close to home. It’s really frustrating,” one neighbor told NBC Connecticut.
The harrowing video showcases the bravery of the car owner and the cowardice of the criminals. Luckily, the Connecticut man was able to fend of the thieves and keep his car.
