WATCH: Overwhelmed Democrat Official Pleads With Residents To House Illegal Migrants In Their Homes - 'Everyone Has Something They Can Offer'

During a press conference on Wednesday, the state of Massachusetts issued a state of emergency declaration in response to the thousands of illegal migrants that have entered the deep blue, Democrat-run stronghold. During the presser, Lt. Gov. Kim Driscoll (D-MA) pleaded with residents to open up their homes and take in migrants.

"Most importantly, If you have an extra room or suite in your home, please consider hosting a family," Driscoll said. "Safe housing and shelter is our most pressing need. Become a sponsor family. You can contact the Brazilian worker center for more information on how you can step up if you are willing to have an additional family be a part of your family."

"If you are a local official, a college president, a business owner, or a faith leader with an available building or space in your community, please work with us to offer it as a shelter site," the lieutenant governor continued. "If you're a social service provider, please consider becoming an emergency assistance homeless shelter provider. Our resources are stretched thin there as well."

"If you're a hotel or a motel owner, consider opening it up for emergency assistance. If you are a landlord or a property owner, we could use you too to connect you to service providers to help transition families into permanent housing," she added, concluding, "Everyone has something they can offer."

As previously reported by the DC Enquirer, Governor Maura Healey (D-MA) issued a state of emergency as social services became overwhelmed in recent months.

The press release from the governor's office pointed to the “rapidly rising number of migrant families arriving in Massachusetts in need of shelter and services and a severe lack of shelter availability in the state" as justification for the declaration.

“State employees and our partners have been miracle workers throughout this crisis – going above and beyond to support families and using every tool at their disposal to expand shelter capacity by nearly 80 percent in the last year,” Gov. Healy said in the press release. “But in recent months, demand has increased to levels that our emergency shelter system cannot keep up with, especially as the number of families leaving shelter has dwindled due to a lack of affordable housing options and barriers to securing work."

“I am declaring a state of emergency in Massachusetts and urging my partners in the federal government to take the action we need to address this crisis by streamlining the work authorization process and passing comprehensive immigration reform. Many of the new arrivals to our state desperately want to work, and we have historic workforce demands across all industries. I am also calling on all of our partners – from cities and towns to the faith community, philanthropic organizations, and human service providers – to rise to this challenge and do whatever you can to help us meet this moment,” she concluded. 

Massachusetts joins a host of other Democrat-run states that have become overwhelmed by illegal immigration. In nearby New York, NYC Mayor Eric Adams (D) has pleaded with the federal government to provide additional assistance to his city given the influx of migrants in the Big Apple. 

As the Biden border crisis continues to persist, border states will not be the only ones to bare the brunt of the crisis. Democrat-run states, which largely vote for the policies that have led to millions entering the country in the past two years, will suffer alongside Texas, Arizona, New Mexico, and California.
