WATCH: Donald Trump Jr. Gives His Thoughts About A 2028 Presidential Run - 'I See Where It's Going'

At a recent campaign event in Iowa, Donald Trump Jr., the eldest son of 45th President Donald Trump, revealed his thoughts about a potential 2028 presidential run after a audience member asked about the potential for the 46-year-old to walk in his father's footsteps.

"Listen, you never know. I don't want to say no," Trump Jr. said. "The reality is this. I never needed this, right? But I believe in it. I've been a lifelong conservative. I see where it's going. My mother escaped communist Czechoslovakia but sent me there every summer as a kid for a couple of weeks during Communism, so I saw it, and whether it was intentional or not, it was a foundation for my political beliefs. I went to boarding school in central Pennsylvania, but in a Rust Belt town that was home to Firestone Tires, I saw what these formerly great industrial sites were just sitting there rotting, vacant, and empty. So I got it. So I'm an unlikely person to understand these things, but sort of by dumb luck, I fell into there. So, you know, I've become pretty passionate about it. I go do this. I made it my life, and I will tell you that it was much easier being a real estate developer from New York City. I got invited to the cool-person parties, but it didn't matter. Once you take this stance, they'll go after you that way. So, the answer is I will continue to fight no matter what. The question is, do you want the day job of actually doing it."

Trump Jr. went on to explain that he wasn't envious of lawmakers and believed that he could potentially do more outside of elected office. "If I'm on the outside of that system...I think I can do a lot more, and then I could focus on helping a couple of people; that would be awesome. It is a great compliment that you would even ask," Trump's eldest son told the questioner. "But you actually have to make sure that you want both. There are too many people that show up, and they barely do anything, and they don't actually affectionate change. So I just want to make sure that no matter what I'm doing, I'm actually effectuating change."

Donald Trump Jr.'s answer about running for elected office after his father's potential second term comes to a close could prove to be the first step in what the America First movement looks like post-Trump. With the 2024 Republican presidential primary looking less competitive by the day, many are theorizing about who could take up the GOP mantle in 2028. Donald Trump Jr.'s remarks are one of the first indications that he might be interested.
