WATCH: Donald Trump Jr. Reveals Tucker Carlson Is 'Certainly' On Trump's VP Short List

Donald Trump Jr. explained to Newsmax on Thursday that former Fox News host Tucker Carlson is certainly in the running for a potential vice presidential pick for Trump's 2024 campaign. Carlson has been rumored to be on Trump's shortlist to join him on the presidential ticket.

When asked who should be Trump's pick, Don Jr. explained that he wants to see a "fighter" in the White House alongside his father, which aligns with the America First agenda. During that discussion, the 45th president's eldest son explained that he would like to see people like Sen. J.D. Vance (R-OH) or Tucker Carlson on the ticket.

When host Rob Finnerty pushed Don Jr. on whether the rumors about Carlson being considered were true, Donald Trump Jr. responded, "That clearly would be on the table. I mean, they're very friendly; I think they agree on virtually all of these things. They certainly agree on stopping the never-ending wars. And so, I would love to see that happen. That would certainly be a contender." The 'Wake Up America' host then asked his guest about a potential Trump-Ben Carson ticket with Don Jr. explaining that he would "love" to see Carson alongside Trump in 2024 but that he may be "too nice for politics."

Don Jr. isn't the only member of Trump's family pushing for Trump to choose Carlson as his running mate. According to an Axios report last month, Melania reportedly believes that Carlson would be a good fit for Trump because it would allow him to extend his onstage presence. When asked whether Trump would pick Tucker for his running mate, the leading Republican candidate said, "I like Tucker a lot. ... He's got great common sense."

"You know when they say that you guys are conservative, or I'm conservative — it's not that we're conservative; we have common sense. We want to have safe borders. We want to have a wall because walls work," Trump added about Carlson. While people across the conservative movement are guessing as to who would be Trump's vice presidential pick after the Republican presidential primaries practically ended after Trump's historic Iowa victory, the man himself said that he already knows who's going to be his pick. During a Fox News town hall last week, Trump told the hosts, "I know who it's going to be."
