On Tuesday evening, the second part of the Elon Musk interview aired on ‘Tucker Carlson Tonight.’ In the latter part of the interview, Musk focused on the chances of extraterrestrial life and how to combat lowering birth rates in the developed world.
Musk began the segment by saying that people take for granted humanity’s existence on Earth. Musk joked about how he has repeatedly been asked about aliens to which Musk said that he has seen no evidence of aliens.
“I would immediately tweet it out if I saw evidence…That would probably be the top tweet of all time. Jackpot! Eight billion likes!” Musk joked.
He then explained, with a chuckle, that if aliens existed and the government knew about it, the Department of Defense would have already revealed them given its desire to increase its budget.

Musk went on to say that he hopes that there is more conscious life out there and that it is peaceful. However, he said that “we should not assume that civilization is robust,” citing various civilizations that rose and fell throughout history.
This then turned Musk to the problem of decreasing birth rates such as in Japan where there were twice as many deaths last year as births.
Musk and Tucker then went back and forth about how decreasing birth rates have come about which largely has been driven by birth control and abortion.
“If we don’t make enough people to at least sustain our numbers or perhaps sustain a bit then civilization will crumble. The old question of whether civilization will end with a bang or a whimper. Well, it is currently trending towards a whimper in adult diapers which is depressing as hell,” Musk said in conclusion.
