WATCH: Former Legal Advisor to Michael Cohen Rips Client Following Testimony – ‘He Was A Serial Liar’

The former legal advisor to Michael Cohen, Bob Costello, testified to the Manhattan grand jury on Monday in the case against 45th President Donald Trump. Following his testimony, which was limited to comments on only six emails, Costello blasted former Trump lawyer and convicted perjurer, Michael Cohen.

“The only thing I’m doing is trying to tell the truth to the grand jurors because I read all these lies in the media that are being promoted by one side,” Costello said. “Listen if they want to go after Donald Trump and they have solid evidence, so be it. But Michael Cohen is far from solid evidence.”

“I wouldn’t have touched a guy like Michael Cohen, especially if he’s a convicted perjurer,” added the former deputy chief of the criminal division in the Southern District of New York.

Cohen pleaded guilty in 2018 to federal charges including five counts of tax invasion, one count of willfully causing an unlawful corporate contribution, and one count of making an excessive campaign contribution at the request of a candidate. In addition, Cohen was charged with lying to Congress.

“There can be no doubt in anyone’s mind that Michael Cohen has great difficulty telling the truth,” Costello explained, as reported by Fox News Digital. “He is, after all a convicted perjurer, and our track record with Mr. Cohen convinced us that he was a serial liar.”

“As might be expected, Mr. Cohen’s lies were always uttered in a way that was beneficial to himself,” Costello explained. “When it was in Mr. Cohen’s personal self-interest, he was capable of telling the truth, but those occasions were few and far between.” 

President Trump took to Truth Social to praise Costello for his testimony, writing, “It is being said that disbarred lawyer Michael Cohen was put out to dry today after his highly respected former attorney and legal adviser, Robert Costello, made a great impression not only on the D.A.’s Office, but the grand jury itself. He is known to be a great lawyer and highly honorable man. He stated to the media that he could no longer listen to the lies that Cohen was spreading. He told the TRUTH, with papers, documents, and backup. He left ZERO doubt. THE D.A. WILL DO THE RIGHT THING!”

In response to these allegations, Michael Cohen told Fox News Digital that Costello’s statement was “fantastical”.

 “If Bob Costello’s comments were any more fantastical, he would be a bestselling fiction author,” Cohen told Fox, adding, “It is important to note, I never slept with Stormy, I stated years ago that the payment was done at the direction of, in coordination with and for the benefit of Donald. Truth is truth and the documents in the possession of the DANY demonstrate this.” 

President Donald Trump backed Costello’s testimony of Cohen’s character, explaining on Tuesday morning that his former lawyer was a “fake storyteller”.

“Remember, Michael Cohen was a lawyer who also represented clients other than me, and who did business transactions for himself, like Taxi Cab Medallions, etc,” Trump wrote about his former lawyer. “I had nothing to do with his outside businesses. On three separate occasions, Cohen asked me to grant him a Presidential Pardon on events having to do with these outside interests. I said, correctly, “NO.” Sometime after that, he became a Fake Storyteller, and began to lie about events!”

“In the history of our Country there cannot have been a more damaged or less credible witness at trial than fully disbarred lawyer and felon, Michael Cohen,” the 45th president explained. “The Southern District of New York (SDNY) wrote a scathing assessment of him, including, ‘Michael Cohen is a lawyer who, rather than setting an example of respect for the law, instead chose to break the law, repeatedly over many years & in a variety of ways…Each of his crimes involved deception,’ & deception & lying is what he is doing here!”

Cohen serves as a central witness in the case against Trump given that he facilitated the payment of $130,000 to adult film star Stormy Daniels in 2016 for a non-disclosure agreement pertaining to an alleged affair, that Trump denies, that took place in 2006.

Bragg is attempting to charge Trump with a campaign finance violation due to this, however, the 45th president has repeatedly said that he did not know about the payment.
