The confounding phrase "God Save The Queen" began trending within a matter of minutes on Twitter with perplexed journalists and politicians straining for an explanation of Biden's words.

According to James Rosen, Chief White House Correspondent for Newsmax Biden "ended his gun control event in Connecticut just now with a baffling remark: “God save the Queen, man.”@WhiteHouse correspondent @toddgillman of @dallasnews, today’s pool reporter, told the press corps to stop asking him why Mr. Biden said it (Gillman: “I have no idea”)."
He posted a screenshot purportedly from Gillman which said, "Thos watching online heard the final utterance of President Biden at the gun summit: "God save the queen, man." Several of you have asked me why he might have said that. I have no idea. Other poolers likewise have no idea."

Rosen followed with an update to the tweet in the comments about an hour later, that raised more questions than answers: "More from pool reporter @toddgillman of @dallasnews, who received an email from Principal Deputy WH Press Secretary @ODalton46
, providing this explanation for @POTUS’ “God save the Queen, man” remark: “He couldn’t do the full ropeline due to weather, and was commenting to someone in the crowd.”

Many commenters have expressed that this provides little to no actual explanation for the remark. Others have ominously questioned if the "Queen," he meant was Queen Elizabeth II who passed away on September 8, 2022, wondering if the President experienced a cognitive lapse and believed she was still alive.
Fox & Friends Weekend Co-Host Pete Hegseth commented, "So, our current President wraps up an anti-gun speech with “God save the queen?” It should be the mission of every freedom-loving American to make sure this guy is nowhere near power come November 2024."
After his speech, Biden reportedly stayed for photos before heading to a fundraiser in Greenwich later in the afternoon according to The New York Post. The outlet notably observed that with the death of the late monarch of the United Kingdom and the accession of her son now-King Charles III, the UK national anthem and royal motto has reverted to "God Save the King," never-minding the oddly abrupt and disjointed non-sequitur nature of Biden's comment.
Rather than Biden's gun control messaging, like bizarrely comparing a murder with a stolen gun to a stolen car with a joyride and vehicular manslaughter, which the Post observed doesn't track according to the insurance industry publication Claims Journal, the intended purpose of the summit seems to have been eclipsed by another troubling display that invites talk of Biden's diminished capacities.
