WATCH: Gov Abbott Sounds The Alarm On Chinese Nationals Crossing The Southern Border

On Sunday, Gov. Greg Abbott (R-TX) joined 'Sunday Morning Futures' with Maria Bartiromo to discuss the growing threat of an open southern border and the rising risk of Chinese nationals entering the United States without any vetting. He went on to explain that the crisis at the US-Mexico border is an "existential threat" that has required Texas to take action.

"It is extraordinarily dangerous because, first of all, as you point out, we have people from China coming here," Abbott said. "We also have people on the known terrorist watch list who are coming across the border. And so there's extraordinary dangers, calls to our country by Biden's open border policies. And obviously, Biden is doing nothing about it. And that's why Texas has to step up and apprehend as many of these people as possible to make sure that they're not posing a threat to our country. But this is a very serious existential threat to our country caused by Joe Biden. And that's exactly why Texas is taking extraordinary steps to try to crack down on it."

As reported by Fox News, thousands of Chinese nationals have crossed the southern border into Texas and other border states, with many of them being military-aged males. According to Customs and Border Patrol data, 6,500 Chinese nationals have crossed the border since October 1. On Monday, a large group of Chinese nationals was spotted crossing the border near Jacumba Hot Springs, California.

In order to prevent the growing number of migrants from crossing the Rio Grande illegally into Texas, Abbott swore during the interview to sign SB 4, which would give local police the authority to arrest those in violation of the law. Local judges could also be granted the authority to subsequently deport those individuals, a legal maneuver that has been the sole responsibility of the federal government. "Texas is having to step up and do even more to make sure that we deny illegal entry into the state of Texas and as a result … in two weeks I'll be singing [the] new law," Abbott told the Fox audience.

"The problem is extraordinarily bad. The numbers are high, and that is because Joe Biden continues to lay out the welcome mat welcoming illegal immigrants into the United States of America," the governor said about Biden's open border policies, as previously reported by the DC Enquirer.
