WATCH: Gov. Tim Walz Absurdly Claims Trump Will Use The Military To Go After Americans 'Who Disagree With Him'

During a Monday campaign visit to the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire, Democratic vice presidential candidate Tim Walz (D-MN) attempted to rally supporters by claiming that 45th President Donald Trump wants to use the military to go after Americans who "disagree with him." The comments come as the Harris-Walz ticket sees slipping poll numbers in the key battleground states that decide who will occupy the White House for the next four years.

"Trump just crossed a line that I have to tell you, in my lifetime, I would have never imagined because we know our history. Donald Trump over the weekend was talking about using the U.S. Army against people who disagree with him," Walz told the assembled college students. "Just so you are clear about that, that's you. That's what he's talking about. This is not some mythical thing out there. He called it the 'enemy within.' To Donald Trump, anybody who doesn't agree with him is the enemy. I tell you that not to make you fearful or anything. I tell you that because we need to put this guy behind us."

Walz's comments to supporters come after Trump told Maria Bartiromo on Fox News on Sunday that he would utilize the military to go after "radical left lunatics" that are terrorizing the nation. "I think the bigger problem is the enemy from within, not even the people that have come in and are destroying our country," Trump said. "I don't think they're the problem in terms of Election Day. I think the bigger problem is the people from within. We have some very bad people, some sick people, radical left lunatics. And it should be very easily handled by, if necessary, by National Guard, or if really necessary, by the military."

Similar Trump comments have caused Democrat lawmakers to worry about a second Trump administration, fearing that the Republican presidential candidate would target them. Earlier this year, lawmakers who served on the January 6 Select Committee said they feared being targeted by a future Trump administration. "My wife and I have had conversations about what life would look like if the worst happened," Rep. Adam Schiff (D-CA), who routinely lied to the American people to push the Russia collusion conspiracy theory, said. "You can't avoid the conversations about 'What if?' And I have to think about my own personal safety."

Another lawmaker on the committee, House Democratic Caucus Chair Rep. Pete Aguillar (D-CA), explained to CBS that he takes Trump's threats seriously. He told reporters that if he was sent to a local D.C. jail, "My family has told me that they're going to come to D.C. either way—and they'll visit me, no matter where I am." Another lawmaker, Rep. Zoe Lofgren (D-CA), said that he takes Trump's comments seriously. "One of the things that I observed during our January 6 committee work was that when Trump says something, he intends to do it. I take that lesson to heart. When he says various things, I think that's what he means he'll do."

As the Harris-Walz ticket slips in the polls and another four years of President Trump inches closer, the Democratic ticket will get increasingly desperate in its rhetoric and actions. While claiming that he's not trying to scare supporters, Gov. Walz is fearmongering to motivate Democrats to get to the voting booth as the Harris campaign struggles to maintain support in the critical "Blue Wall" states.
