On Sunday, Gov. Ron DeSantis (R-FL) joined Fox News’ Mark Levin to discuss his tenure as governor as well as to promote his new book The Courage to be Free. During the interview, the governor focused on the covid pandemic and how the establishment in Washington utilized mandates to control the populace.
“[J]ust remember, when you had those George Floyd protests, you had the public health establishment yelling at people in Florida for being on their boat or playing golf,” the governor said. “They didn’t want you leaving your house,” he said. “Then you have all these people protesting the police.”
“And what is the public health establishment do? They sign a letter with like 2,000 epidemiologists saying, well, you know, we don’t want you protesting COVID restrictions, stay home, but don’t — but if you want to do this, we think that that’s good for public health,” the Florida Republican continued. “That’s when you knew that this was all just a bunch of politics and what they were doing was essentially a fraud.”
“And so we had to fight those folks, really, from April 2020, you know, we charted our own course on all those different things,” DeSantis continued. “And the thing is, is, you know, we were right. A Governor is right having treatments when they’re saying not to do the treatments. I should not have had to do these treatments, they should have been advocating to treat people, but they didn’t want to do it.”
“They wanted to control your behavior, and that is why they would want vaccine mandates, even when it was apparent that the vax didn’t prevent you from getting infected because it’s not about the medical,” the governor explained. “It’s about the control, and I think they wanted to exercise power over other people.”
“So, if you look at like all these entrenched bureaucrats, CDC, NIH, FDA — they need to be cleaned out because they totally failed, and they are not advocating for the best interests of the people of this country,” he added. “It’s been a total disaster.”

In addition to going after the medical establishment in D.C., DeSantis also took aim at the swamp for stopping Trump’s agenda during his presidency.
“So if you look at like all these entrenched bureaucrats, CDC, NIH, FDA, they need to be cleared out because they’ve totally failed and they’re not advocating for the best interest of the people of this country,” DeSantis said. “It has been a total disaster.”
“There was a proposal that I think a lot of us wanted to see under the prior administration is to do a Schedule F,” he said. “So anyone that has any policy role is classified as a Schedule F and they can be removed by the president. The left would litigate that but I honestly think we would win on that in the Supreme Court.”
“And I also think that there’s one thing to have some kind of job rules for the bowels of the bureaucracy like your supervisor what can they do. President of the United States has Article II power,” Governor DeSantis continued. “Who controls the executive branch? Is it the elected president or is it some bureaucrat in the bowels of the bureaucracy that can’t be fired?”
“So I think push needs to come to shove on this but whoever gets the majority of the electoral college has the right to impose their agenda through the executive branch,” he stated, concluding, “What they did with President Trump is they tried to nullify the election through not only bureaucratic intransigence but malfeasance with the collusion hoax and some of those things. So reconstituting the government starts with reconstituting the executive branch under Article II.”
It is clear that Governor DeSantis has a vision for what the national path forward should be and he realizes that the establishment and bureaucracy in Washington are antithetical to carrying that vision out. President Trump was handicapped repeatedly during his presidency by an overreaching bureaucracy and the Republican candidate should be confident to gut the executive agencies once they gain the presidency.
