During an interview on CNN with host Jim Acosta on Wednesday, the Harris-Walz campaign's Communications Director, Michael Tyler, revealed one of the vice president's first policy proposals on her plans to fix the US-Mexico border. During the discussion, Tyler revealed that Harris is in opposition to the mass deportations pushed by 45th President Donald Trump despite the Biden-Harris administration letting in millions of illegal immigrants since taking office in January 2021.
"The vice president has been very clear about immigration and how she wants to tackle this challenge. She obviously wants to secure the border," Tyler claimed. "If you want to look at an example of the ways in which these candidates want to approach this issue, the bipartisan border security bill that was ready to go and be signed into law was tanked by one person and one person alone. And that's Donald Trump because he's not actually interested in solving the border problem. He's interested in serving himself. He's far left interested in border security, and what he wants is made very clear in his Project 2025 agenda is mass deportations."
The Harris campaign, which has tried tirelessly to falsely equate Trump's Agenda 47 agenda to Project 2025, is attempting to confuse the American people by hoping that Americans forget about the last three years of open border policies under the Biden-Harris administration. The Democratic presidential candidate was put in charge of solving the crisis on the southern border, in a role commonly referred to as the "border czar," by getting to the "root causes" of mass immigration. Despite this appointment, however, Harris failed miserably at the task and instead allowed millions of illegal immigrants to enter the country.
"American citizens are being raped and murdered at the hands of illegal aliens with no legal right to be here — but Kamala wants them to stay," the Trump campaign said in response to the Harris campaign's remarks on her border position. President Trump and Senator Vance are campaigning on an effort to deport those who came into the country illegally under Harris' watch, a policy that the American people widely support.
A recent CBS News/YouGov poll found that a large majority of voters, 62 percent, are in favor of deporting 11 million to 22 million illegal immigrants who have crossed the southern border and who have been allowed to remain in the country under President Joe Biden's watch. Even more significantly for Trump's campaign, about six in ten swing state voters agreed with Trump's plan, and even four in ten Democrats supported the idea. Another voting bloc critical for Trump's reelection, white voters without a college degree, overwhelmingly support the 45th president's plan, with only 26 percent opposing it.
"One of the most important issues in this campaign is ending the nation-wrecking catastrophe on our southern border. Under my leadership, we had the most secure border in US history. Now, we have the worst border in the history of the world," Trump explained last year. "A vote for President Trump means Joe Biden's horror show at the southern border ends at high noon on Inauguration Day, 2025. Upon my inauguration, I will immediately terminate every Open Borders policy of the Biden administration. Following the Eisenhower Model, we will carry out the largest domestic deportation operation in American History."
