On Wednesday, Sen. JD Vance (R-OH) and 45th President Donald Trump held a campaign rally in Asheboro, North Carolina, at the North Carolina Aviation Museum & Hall of Fame as the duo fights to keep the state in Republican hands in an increasingly competitive environment. During the event, Vance didn't hold back when discussing the crisis at the southern border, sending a strong message to the millions of illegal immigrants who have entered the country over the past three and a half years.
"President Trump and I have a different message: to all the criminal illegals who flooded across Kamala's wide open southern border: Pack your bags because, in 6 months, you are going home," Vance said. The Ohio Republican explained that the American people would send a strong message to the power brokers in Washington, D.C., that it was not the elites who selected the president but the people.
"This November, starting right here in the great state of North Carolina, we're going to send a message to the corrupt leaders of this country: we do not need a president selected by power brokers," he explained. "We need a president for the people -- and that's why we're going to send Donald J. Trump back to the White House." A key theme of the campaign event focused on foreign policy, with Vance attacking Harris for bragging about her role in the deadly withdrawal from Afghanistan and claiming that a Harris presidency would lead to nuclear war.
"Remember, she bragged on CNN about playing a key role in the disastrous withdrawal from Afghanistan. Now, that was before 13 innocent service members died at the Kabul airport," Vance said. "That was about three years ago to the day. That was before the world witnessed panicked civilians cling to the side of retreating American airplanes. And that was before they gave the Taliban billions of dollars, paid for by you, of helicopters, planes, humvees, and artilleries. It was the worst humiliation this country has endured since the fall of Saigon."
The Trump-Vance ticket has made multiple trips to North Carolina in recent weeks as the state becomes increasingly competitive. Trump gave a speech on his economic vision for the country last week in Asheville, North Carolina. According to the FiveThirtyEight polling average, Vice President Harris is practically tied with President Trump to win the state's 16 electoral votes at 45.6 percent for Trump compared to 45.5 percent for Harris. Independent candidate Robert F. Kennedy, Jr. still has 3.8 percent support in the state.
The Asheboro rally is the first outside rally for the former president since the attempt on his life in Butler, Pennsylvania, on July 13. The Secret Service placed bulletproof glass around the podium to ensure President Trump's safety.

.@JDVance: Kamala BRAGGED about playing a key role in the disastrous withdrawal of Afghanistan... Is it any wonder that Putin then invaded Ukraine on her watch? Or that Iran attacked Israel on her watch?... When Kamala Harris walks in the room, America's enemies sense WEAKNESS. pic.twitter.com/DuqfcOITai
