WATCH: JD Vance SLAMS 'Anti-Family' Democrats, Says He'll 'Promote A Culture Of Life' In America

On Friday, Republican vice presidential nominee JD Vance (R-OH) joined Megyn Kelly to respond to a resurfaced clip from a 2021 appearance on "Tucker Carlson Tonight" showing the then-Ohio Senate candidate criticize the single, childless women in Democrat Party leadership.

The clip of Vance, which has been shared widely by the Harris campaign, has been taken out of context of his broader remarks, with Vance specifically noting that he is not referring to individuals who are unable to have children, such as because of a biological reason, but instead those in Democrat leadership who refuse to have children. In the clip, Vance argued that the country was being run by "a bunch of childless cat ladies who are miserable at their own lives and the choices that they've made, and so they want to make the rest of the country miserable, too."

"It's just a basic fact — you look at Kamala Harris, Pete Buttigieg, AOC — the entire future of the Democrats is controlled by people without children," Vance said in the clip. "And how does it make any sense that we've turned our country over to people who don't really have a direct stake in it?"

In response to the attack, Sen. Vance flipped the script on Democrats and emphasized their anti-family positions, explaining that the Democrat Party is more interested in letting in millions of illegal immigrants than supporting the creation of American families.

"I know the media wants to attack me and wants me to back down on this, Megyn, but the simple point that I made is that having children, becoming a father, becoming a mother, I really do think it changes your perspective in a pretty profound way," Vance explained. "It's not a criticism of people who don't have children. I explicitly said in my remarks, despite the fact the media has lied about this, that this is not about criticizing people who, for various reasons, didn't have kids. This is about criticizing the Democratic Party for becoming anti-family and anti-child."

Vance also explained during the interview that he wants to "promote a culture of life" in the country to ensure that American families, and American women in particular, are given the option to create a family rather than being forced to focus solely on their career advancement. "[My wife] was talking about how she felt this incredible professional pressure to not have kids because it set back her professional advancement. What a weird society we set up where moms who want to work, the thought that a lot of them are having is, 'I can't have more babies because it is going to be bad for my career.' How about we make the workplace more accommodating for working moms and working dads so we can promote a real culture of life."
