WATCH: Kamala Harris Admits Her Economy Is In Shambles With Housing Out Of Reach, Groceries Too Expensive - 'Prices Are Still Too High'

During a sparsely populated rally in Raleigh, North Carolina, on Friday, Vice President Kamala Harris made a case for her radical economic agenda and, in the process, admitted the devastating consequences of the Biden-Harris administration's policies on grocery prices, housing costs, and the overall economy. Throughout her speech, Harris cited the high cost of living and high grocery prices that have burdened Americans since the end of the COVID-19 Pandemic and that her policies would solve the affordability crisis.

"A loaf of bread costs 50 percent more today than it did before the Pandemic. Ground beef is up almost 50 percent," Harris admitted, adding that owning a home is out of reach for millions of Americans. "The housing market can be complicated, but look, I'm not new to this issue."

"I know what home ownership means. It's more than a financial transaction. It is so much more than that. It is more than a house. Homeownership and what that means is a symbol of pride that comes with hard work. It is financial security. It represents what you will be able to do for your children, and sadly, right now, it is out of reach for far too many American families," she said after three and a half years of leading the country with President Joe Biden. "There's a serious housing shortage. In many places, it is too difficult to build, and it is driving prices up."

Despite currently being vice president, Harris told the audience that it is "time to chart a new war forward." The Trump campaign, which quickly made an ad out of the Democrat presidential candidate's comments, slammed Harris for the remark, writing, "Does Comrade Kamala not realize she is CURRENTLY IN OFFICE — or does she just think Americans are stupid?"

Harris' comments about the economy came after her campaign announced multiple left-wing economic policies that would be pillars of her campaign. The Harris campaign explained that taking on high grocery prices, created by the trillions of dollars of spending passed during the Biden-Harris administration, will be a major priority in Harris' first 100 days as president. The campaign proposed that it would institute "the first-ever federal ban on price gouging on food and groceries—setting clear rules of the road to make clear that big corporations can't unfairly exploit consumers to run up excessive corporate profits on food and groceries."

The Harris team pointed to the meat-packing companies as one segment of the food industry that is particularly consolidated, arguing that "the lack of competition gives these middlemen the power to drive down earnings for farmers while driving up prices for consumers." The vice president's proposal comes as she struggles to convince voters that she can be trusted to steer the economy in the right direction and attempts to distance herself from President Biden's economic record. The Democrat's policy team reportedly will lay out an initiative to help small businesses compete with the larger meat-packing corporations, which, Harris argues, have unfairly inflated prices since the COVID-19 Pandemic.

In addition to advocating for price controls, the Harris campaign revealed that it would support giving first-time homebuyers a $25,000 down payment, a plan that would certainly increase housing prices market-wide. "The Biden-Harris administration proposed providing $25,000 in downpayment assistance for 400,000 first-generation home buyers -- or homebuyers whose parents don't own a home -- and a $10,000 tax credit for first-time home buyers," the Harris campaign said in a statement. "This plan will significantly simplify and expand the reach of down-payment assistance, allowing over 1 million first-time-buyers per year – including first-generation home buyers – to get the funds they need to buy a house when they are ready to buy it."

Vice President Harris's economic policies derived from the same economic models that led countries like Venezuela to collapse. In her attempt to run away from Biden's devastating economic legacy, she has instead fallen into the trap of proposing policies like price controls that have only led to food shortages and empty shelves in other nations. While her promises may be alluring to voters who are uneducated about their economic impact, economists agree that the consequences of her proposals would be devastating for the American economy.
