WATCH: Kentucky Governor Andy Beshear Faces Backlash After Doubling Down On Rape-Induced Pregnancy Comment Against JD Vance - 'Make Him Go Through This'

On Tuesday, Gov. Andy Beshear (D-KY) suggested to MSNBC co-host Mika Brzezinski on "Morning Joe" that Sen. JD Vance (R-OH) should experience what it's like to have a member of his family experience a rape-induced pregnancy. His comments come after the DNC highlighted their pro-abortion message by allowing Amanda and Josh Zurawski, Kaitlyn Joshua, and Hadley Duvall, three individuals impacted by pro-life laws, to take the stage on Monday evening.

"It's just fear tactics, and it's just lying to people. Think about what some people have had to go through because of these laws," Beshear said about pro-life laws. "JD Vance calls pregnancy associated with rape inconvenient. Inconvenient is traffic. Make him go through this. Someone being violated, someone being harmed, and then telling them that they don't have options after that. That fails any test of decency, of humanity." Vance faced similar attacks on his out-of-context remarks during his 2022 Senate race by Rep. Tim Ryan (D-OH).

In response to the comment, JD Vance reposted the interview clip with the caption, "What the hell is this? Why is [Andy Beshear] wishing that a member of my family would get raped?!? What a disgusting person."

In a campaign statement after the remarks, Vance's Communications Director, William Martin, said, "After speaking on the DNC main stage last night, Harris campaign surrogate Governor Andy Beshear went on national television this morning and explicitly called for a member of Senator Vance's family to be raped. His comments are disgusting, vile, and should not be tolerated in American politics. We call on Kamala Harris to immediately repudiate Governor Beshear's comments and demonstrate that regardless of partisan disagreements, this kind of violent rhetoric has no place in our public discourse."

Following Vance's response, Beshear doubled down on his comments, arguing that Vance was deflecting from the issue. "It's ridiculous, but it's also deflection. JD Vance knows that he and Donald Trump are so wrong on this issue that he is trying to make himself a victim," he said, adding that the individuals highlighted by the DNC on Monday night are the real victims. "As a man, JD Vance will never have to face any of this personally, but it's sad that he lacks the empathy to be able to put himself in a different position and to understand why having exceptions and having reproductive freedom is so important in the first place. Obviously, I'd never wish harm on anyone. Again, deflection trying to make himself and Donald Trump the victims."

Gov. Beshear's comments reveal the truth about Democrats when they disagree with pro-life conservatives on the issue of abortion. Rather than having a principled, fact-based discussion on the issue, abortion advocates would rather attack critics personally and even wish harm on their families. "This is actually a very common, very hateful leftist sentiment that I've heard repeatedly in different contexts," Daily Signal reporter Mary Margaret Olohan explained. "The first time was when an anti-Kavanaugh protester told me in 2018 she hoped my daughter would be raped someday."
