WATCH: Kevin McCarthy Responds to Critics of Tucker Carlson’s January 6th Investigation

Speaker of the House Kevin McCarthy (R-CA) may have had a tough time earning his new role, but he now appears to be making a new reputation for himself. As part of the concessions agreed upon, Speaker McCarthy released all January 6th footage to Fox News host Tucker Carlson.

Carlson and Fox News have recently faced opposition to releasing the tapes, being chastised by Majority Leader Chuck Schumer and high-level Republicans in the Senate as well. While speaking on the Senate floor, Schumer called Carlson’s release of the footage “shameful.” Minority Leader Mitch McConnell also weighed in, saying that Carlson had made “offensive and misleading conclusions” regarding the occurrences that took place on January 6th. McConnell also went on to say that “It was a mistake, in my view, for Fox News to depict this in a way that’s completely at variance with what our chief law enforcement official here at the Capitol thinks.” Other Republican senators like Thom Tillis commented on it as well, labeling it as “bullshit”

Speaker McCarthy responded to his colleagues’ objections by saying that he “just wanted to make sure that I had transparency,” by releasing the tapes to Carlson.

Carlson had the following to say in response to the condemnation of his release of the tapes:

“They’re all on the same side. So it’s actually not about left and right. It’s not about Republicans and DemocratsHere, you have people with shared interests….The people who, underneath it all, have everything in common are all aligned against everyone else.

You don’t often see the Senate Majority Leader openly call for censorship on the floor of the Senate, as if that was totally normal and didn’t contradict the spirit and the letter of the First Amendment. But, of course, it does.

But what’s really happening, or what you’re seeing, is hysteria — the overstatement, the crazed hyperbole, the red-in-the face anger. What is that? Outrage? Of course, it’s fear. It’s panic.”

It is unclear why those in the D.C. establishment are taking Carlson’s actions so personally, but one can’t help but feel that their objections have sinister roots. The potential to discover that everything the mainstream media has fed the country for years now could’ve been completely made-up would undoubtedly make the conspirators, who’d cultivated the plan, to begin with, quite nervous.
