WATCH: Late Night Show Audience Laughs At Host After Claiming CNN Is 'Objective' - 'Even Colbert's Audience Knows'

On Monday, CNN host Kaitlin Collins joined late-night talk show host Stephen Colbert to discuss her time as an anchor on CNN and the moment President Joe Biden exited the race. One moment in particular, however, has gained the attention of commentators on social media: Colbert attempted to assert that CNN was an "objective" news network attempting to give the public unbiased facts on the news of the day.

When asked about the impact of Biden's exit from the race, Collins claimed that the Trump campaign was thrown off guard by the development in stark contrast to the Republican National Convention, which was infused with unity and excitement. "Trump has kind of been thrown on his heels by this, and he's not really sure how to go after Vice President Harris. He knew his attack lines on President Biden. He really has struggled with how to go after someone who is 20 years younger than him, who is a different gender, who's a different race. It has kind of been this moment where he has not been able to coalesce around a single attack line," Collins explained.

"I know you guys are objective over there, that you just report the news as it is," Colbert claimed as the New York audience burst out in laughter.

"Is that supposed to be a laugh line," Collins asked as she laughed nervously. The late-night host admitted that it wasn't supposed to be a laugh line and shrugged his shoulders as he said, "But I guess it is."

The moment caught the attention of commentators online, with many pointing out that Colbert, a left-wing commentator who routinely parrots the talking points of the Democratic Party, can't even effectively push forward such a blatant falsehood. "That unexpected laugh is one of the best unintentionally funny and telling moments in the history of TV," podcaster Konstantin Kisin posted. "They know!!! Even Colbert's audience knows."

"Even liberals know CNN is functionally a Democrat super PAC," TPUSA founder Charlie Kirk wrote about the clip.

While claiming to be an objective reporter, Collins has repeatedly shown herself to be an anti-Trump anchor on the network, as evidenced by the contentious interview she conducted with Trump last year that was filled with biased questions. Colbert's audience knows that CNN and, by extension, Kaitlin Collins aren't objective reporters but instead willing allies of the Democratic Party.
