On Saturday morning, CBS Los Angeles meteorologist Alissa Carlson Schwartz fainted and collapsed live on air during a broadcast leaving her fellow anchors in shock as they quickly went to a commercial break.
Schwartz was preparing to deliver her forecast of the weather to the people of Los Angeles around 7 A.M. when she could be seen tilting her head forward, her eyes rolled to the back of her head, and she fell onto her desk before falling to the floor.
In response to this, her fellow anchors were shocked and quickly called for a commercial break to address their fallen coworker, as reported by Breitbart.
Following the incident, the meteorologist posted to Facebook to update the public about her condition, writing, “Thanks for all the texts, calls & messages. I’m going to be ok!”
In a 2018 KGET News interview, Schwarz explained the story behind her heart condition that she discovered when filling in for a fellow anchor.
She explained that she threw up in the weather center during her broadcast leading to her heading home and then going to the doctor upon realizing that her condition wasn’t the normal flu.
She was then diagnosed with a leaky heart valve. Following this diagnosis, she became an advocate for the American Heart Association and chair of the Circle of Red. She also adopted a healthier lifestyle and had a baby, however, after giving birth to her daughter she returned to the hospital with chest pains.
It was discovered, however, that the valve began to “repair itself” because stem cells from her daughter were actually healing her condition.
“The stem cells from my baby had started to heal my heart,” she said with visible emotion, “I feel like I owe it to people and everybody and to God to give back and to spread this story and to realize that you may have something that you don’t even know you have.”
Schwartz was named Mrs. California and placed in the top 15 in the Mrs. America Pageant in 2018.
