Marjorie Taylor Greene Interrupts Biden During State Of The Union - 'Tell Hunter To Pay HIs Taxes!'

On Thursday, President Joe Biden gave his annual national address to the American people in front of a joint session of Congress. During his speech, however, the president was interrupted by Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-GA), who demanded that the president's son, Hunter Biden, who was recently indicted by the Department of Justice for tax crimes, pay his taxes.

Greene interrupted Biden when he was telling the hundreds of assembled lawmakers about his plans to tax corporations and billionaires more. "Look, I'm a capitalist. If you want to make a million bucks – great! Just pay your fair share in taxes," Biden said before he was interrupted by the Georgia lawmaker. "Tell Hunter to pay his taxes," Greene, who was wearing a red Make America Great Again hat and a shirt with Laken Riley's name on it, shouted.

"A fair tax code is how we invest in the things – that make a country great: health care, education, defense, and more," the president continued, seemingly ignoring Greene's interruption as the audience applauded.

Late last year, the Department of Justice filed criminal charges in the Central District of California against the president's son, alleging that he failed to pay $1.4 million in taxes while living out a luxurious lifestyle. Hunter "spent millions of dollars on an extravagant lifestyle rather than paying his tax bills," Special Counsel David Weiss said in a statement. Weiss charged Hunter with three felony and six misdemeanor tax offenses.

"The Defendant engaged in a four-year scheme to not pay at least $1.4 million in self-assessed federal taxes he owed for tax years 2016 through 2019," the indictment reads. Hunter, if convicted on all the charges, faces up to 17 years in prison. The indictment explained that the 53-year-old spent thousands "on drugs, escorts and girlfriends, luxury hotels and rental properties, exotic cars, clothing, and other items of a personal nature."

While the Georgia Republican was unable to make an impression with that outburst, she was more successful earlier in the evening when she confronted Biden prior to his speech.

As Biden walked down the aisle to give his speech at the podium at around 9:10 PM EST, Rep. Greene confronted the 81-year-old Democrat to attempt to force him to say the name of Laken Riley, who was murdered by an illegal immigrant in Georgia last month. "Say her name... Laken Riley," Greene said to Biden. Greene, like many Republicans in the chamber, wore pins to honor Laken Riley that read "Say her name."

Greene's confrontation seemed to have an impact on Biden since he decided to go off-script and mention Riley during his speech. "Lincoln Riley, an innocent young woman who was killed by an illegal, that's right," the president said while getting her first name wrong. Riley's parents refused to attend the State of the Union as guests, something that Biden did not realize when he turned his attention to the gallery and said, "To her parents, I say, my heart goes out to you having lost children myself, I understand."
