WATCH: Matt Gaetz Demands Ted Cruz, Ron DeSantis Back Trump for 2024

On Saturday, Congressman Matt Gaetz (R-FL) called on Governor Ron DeSantis (R-FL) and Senator Ted Cruz (R-TX) to endorse Donald Trump’s 2024 presidential run.

“Only Donald Trump could have rescued us from Hillary Clinton. Without Trump doing three rallies in the final week of the 2018 election in Florida, my governor today would probably be Andrew Gillum. How weird is that? And without Trump dragging Ted Cruz across the finish line, your senator would probably be beta-Beto,” Gaetz told the attendees of Donald Trump’s rally in Waco, Texas.

Gaetz continued, saying, “so Ron DeSantis, Ted Cruz: patriots of the MAGA movement delivered for you in your time of need. Today, Ron DeSantis and Ted Cruz should endorse Donald Trump for president and stand with us as we were so proud to stand with them.”

While Ted Cruz has opted out of a 2024 presidential run, Ron DeSantis is widely seen as Trump’s most formidable competitor — although the Florida Governor himself has yet to declare his candidacy.

Gaetz has strongly supported Donald Trump during his time in the House of Representatives. Indeed, Gaetz submitted a vote for Donald Trump as House Speaker in January — even after Donald Trump publicaly endorsed Congressman Kevin McCarthy (R-CA) for the position. In turn, Gaetz received the coveted Trump endorsement for his 2022 Midterm run. That endorsement surely helped him receive nearly 68 percent of the vote during his dominating 2022 midterm victory.

2024 is shaping up to be very interesting. The battle lines are being drawn, as the Republican Party ramps up its quest to oust the Democrats from the White House.
