WATCH: Minnesota Voter Describes Gov. Tim Walz As A 'Straight Up Socialist'

Vice President Kamala Harris' selection of Gov. Tim Walz (D-MN) as her running mate to take on Donald Trump and JD Vance in November has been heavily criticized by Republicans, given his far-left record and open support of socialism. A recent interview with a Minnesota voter emphasizes this critique, as do Walz's recent comments claiming that socialism is just neighborliness.

"He used to be what I'd call a middle of the road Democrat. Now he's a straight-up socialist," Minessota voter Roger Ellingson said about his governor. Walz, a former school teacher and former National Guardsman, gained the support of a number of key players in the Democrat Party including former Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) and Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-VT). The Minnesota governor has also gained the support of organized labor.

On a recent fundraising call for "White Dudes For Kamala Harris," Gov. Walz called on people to start volunteering and spreading progressive values to other voters. "Don't ever shy away from our progressive values," he said. "One person's socialism is another person's neighborliness." While he preaches "neighborliness," the Minnesota governor oversaw the Black Lives Matter riots that engulfed Minneapolis in 2020 and led to the destruction of hundreds of millions of dollars in property and the death of multiple people.

Further cementing Walz's position as a far-left progressive who flirts with socialism is the fact that many on the progressive left praised Walz's selection by Vice President Harris. Rep. Alexandria Ocascio Cortez (D-NY), a progressive Democrat who got elected with the help of the Democratic Socialists of America, wrote, "Vice President Harris made an excellent decision in Gov. Walz as her running mate. Together, they will govern effectively, inclusively, and boldly for the American people. They won't back down under tight odds, either - from healthcare to school lunch. Let's do this."

Walz seemingly beat out several other contenders who fell in prominence amongst the vetting team after initially making the cut to be on the shortlist. Those eliminated from contention include Senator Mark Kelly (D-AZ), Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg, Governor Andy Beshear (D-KY), and Governor J.B. Pritzker (D-IL).

Harris and Walz will visit seven cities nationwide in the next five days on a battleground state tour. The locations include Philadelphia, Pennsylvania; Eau Claire, Wisconsin; Detroit, Michigan; Durham, North Carolina; Savannah, Georgia; Phoenix, Arizona; and Las Vegas, Nevada.

Gov. Walz is one of the most far-left governors in the country, and his record proves this. He allowed his state to burn during the Black Lives Matter riots in Minneapolis, and he is in the same wing of the Democratic Party as Bernie Sanders and AOC.
