WATCH: Nancy Mace SLAMS Secret Service Director For Refusing To Answer Questions Following Trump Assassination Attempt - 'You're Full Of Sh*t Today'

During a House Oversight Committee hearing on Monday, US Secret Service Director Kimberly Cheatle repeatedly refused to answer questions about the assassination attempt against Republican nominee Donald Trump last week and instead evaded lawmakers' questions by pointing to the ongoing investigation by the FBI into the shooting. Cheatle's failure to respond adequately to lawmakers prompted Rep. Nancy Mace (R-SC) to state that she is "full of sh*t."

"You're full of sh*t today. You're just being completely dishonest," Mace said before being interrupted by Democrat members. After refusing to say whether the Secret Service provided all the committee documents and memos, Mace stated that Cheatle was "being dishonest or lying."

"You're being dishonest here with this committee. These are important questions that the American people want answers to and you're just dodging and talking around it in generalities," the South Carolina lawmaker said. "We had to subpoena you to be here, and you won't even answer the questions. We have asked you repeatedly to answer our questions. This isn't hard. These are not hard questions."

Despite not being forthcoming with lawmakers throughout her testimony, Cheatle did admit that the assassination attempt against President Trump was "the most significant operational failure at the Secret Service in decades." The gunman, positioned on a slanted roof about 150 yards from the rally, was able to fire multiple shots at Trump during his rally in Butler, Pennsylvania, leading to a bullet hitting the former president's ear and leading to the death of one supporter in the audience and serious injury to two others.

"The Secret Service's solemn mission is to protect our nation's leaders. On July 13, we failed," Cheatle, who previously worked as PepsiCo's senior director of global security., told the congressional committee. "As the director of the United States Secret Service, I take full responsibility for any security lapse. We are fully cooperating with ongoing investigations. We must learn what happened."

"Our mission is not political. It is literally a matter of life and death, as the tragic events on July 13 remind us of that," she said, adding that she would move "heaven and Earth" to ensure the event is not repeated. "I have full confidence in the men and women of the Secret Service. They are worthy of our support in executing our protective mission."

Following the assassination attempt, Republicans have demanded that Cheatle resign from her post, and some Senate Republicans even confronted her at the Republican National Convention, demanding answers and her resignation. Republicans aren't the only ones demanding accountability from Cheatle, with Rep. Ro Khanna (D-CA) demanding that she resign, citing former Secret Service Director Stuart Knight's resignation following the 1981 assassination attempt of Ronald Reagan.
