A group of New York Police Department (NYPD) officers entered a migrant shelter to make an arrest earlier this week. During the arrest, a mob of migrants confronted and quickly surrounded the officers.
In a video of the incident, officers and Arrow Security personnel entered the shelter to apprehend a suspect. The suspect, seen wearing a white shirt, was put on his knees but began to resist arrest as officers became distracted by some of the other migrants who were throwing objects at them.
Multiple officers wrestled the suspect to the ground as New York's finest deployed their batons to hold off the crowd. Once officers were able to get the Hispanic male in handcuffs, one officer yelled, "Grab him and let's go!" Multiple officers, flanked by security guards, then carried the suspect out of the shelter by his legs and arms.
In response to the footage, several conservative commentators expressed outrage at the ongoing crisis engulfing Manhattan. "These illegal criminal thugs feel really entitled under Joe Biden," wrote Trump 2024 National Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt. "That will end as soon as President Trump is inaugurated and the largest mass deportation operation in history begins. Bye bye!"
"This crisis is a dangerous cocktail of Biden's open border policies and left-wing state/city sanctuary policies," wrote former gubernatorial candidate Lee Zeldin (R-NY). "Biden must close the border TODAY (he already has the power!), sanctuary policies must be ended TODAY, and Hochul must call in the National Guard TODAY."
"Democrats want to shift the conversation to their monstrous 'border' bill (it is actually a citizenship bill for illegals). Do not let them," former Trump advisor Stephen Miller explained. "Instead, focus on these two words: MASS DEPORTATION. Deport everyone coming and everyone Biden resettled."
The new footage comes after a handful of migrants attacked two NYPD officers near Times Square last month and as officer injuries continue to rise. According to newly released data from the city, officer injuries are skyrocketing across the Big Apple, with the Bronx's 40th Precinct (135 cops injured), Brooklyn's 75th Precinct (129 cops injured), and the Bronx's 46th Precinct (128 cops injured), 44th Precinct (126 cops injured), and 47th Precinct (117 cops injured) all seeing significant increases in assaults on officers. The total number of officer injuries for 2023 saw a staggering 5,363 injuries, with 1,286 injuries in the last quarter of the year alone, as reported by The New York Post.
As migrants continue to overwhelm New York City, the men and women in blue are on the front line defending American citizens from the chaos that has engulfed New York's streets. The influx of migrants has strained social services, created massive budget shortfalls, and led to an increase in crime. New Yorkers are most certainly regretting being a sanctuary city as they attempt to deal with the consequences of their pro-illegal migrant policies.
