WATCH: President Biden Doesn't Hold Back After Democrat 'Elites' Demand He Drop Out - 'Challenge Me At The Convention!'

During an interview with MSNBC's "Morning Joe" on Monday morning, President Biden challenged Democrat Party elites calling for him to withdraw from the presidential race after a disastrous debate performance last month. The interview is the latest effort of the 46th president to send a clear message to elected Democrats, party officials, and voters that he's not going anywhere and that he believes he's the only candidate capable of defeating Donald Trump in November.

"The bottom line here is that we aren't going anywhere. I am not going anywhere. I wouldn't be running if I didn't absolutely believe that I am the best candidate to beat Donald Trump in 2024. We had a democratic nominee process where the voters spoke clearly. I won 14 million of those votes, etcetera," Biden said. "I not only believe that from the beginning, but I want to reassert and demonstrate that it's true, and I'm going to be doing that all through this week and from here on."

In a particularly heated moment, the president then challenged Democrat elites who have called upon him to step aside. Biden's comments come after Reps. Adam Smith (D-WA), Jerry Nadler (D-NY), and eight other Democratic lawmakers demanded that the president withdraw from the race to allow the party to pick a new nominee.

"The American public is not going to move away from me as an average voter. And again, I'm here for two reasons, pal," Biden said. "One, to rebuild the economy for hard-working working-class people. Give everybody a shot. Just a straight shot. Everybody gets a fair chance, number one. Number two, remember all this talk about how I don't have the black support. Come on, give me a break. Come with me. Watch! Watch! I'm getting so frustrated by the elites...in the party. 'Oh, they know so much more.'"

"But if any of these guys don't think I should run, run against me. Go ahead, announce for president. Challenge me at the convention," the president added. The president voiced a similar message to congressional Democrats in a letter on Monday that demanded that they unify around his candidacy instead of weakening him by further dividing the party and questioning his fitness for office, as previously reported by the DC Enquirer.

MSNBC co-host Mika Brezinski brought up Biden's health during the phone interview by asking the president if he had been tested for any neurological or age-related conditions, including Parkinson's, that could have impacted his debate performance. Biden, initially laughing at the question, stated that he had a "bad night" and that he tests himself every day on the campaign trail.

"If there was something that was wrong that night, it's not like it's one night and it goes away. That's why I've been out. I've been testing myself. I've been tested everywhere I go. Going out and making the case. The night of the debate, I went out. I was out at two o'clock in the morning that very night," the president explained. "It drives me nuts people talking about this."
