WATCH: President Biden Smirks When Asked His Response To Trump Being A 'Political Prisoner' - 'Crooked Joe Can't Hide His Satisfaction'

Following a brief press conference on Friday, President Joe Biden could be seen smiling to the cameras after he was asked to respond to claims by his political rival, Donald Trump, that he directed the Department of Justice to go after and make Trump a political prisoner.

"Mr. President, can you tell us sir, Donald Trump refers to himself as a political prisoner and blames you directly," NBC's Kelly O'Donnell asked the president as he walked away from the podium. "What's your response to that, sir? Do you think the condition will have an impact on the campaign? We'd love to hear your thoughts."

Biden refused to answer questions from the NBC News reporter and instead briefly turned and smirked at the press pool before walking out of the room. "There it is, folks. Crooked Joe can't hide his satisfaction over what him and his team orchestrated," Donald Trump Jr. wrote on X in response to the clip.

As previously reported by the DC Enquier, President Biden argued during his statement that the conviction shows that "no one is above the law" and that it is "dangerous" to question the outcome. "I just want to say a few words about what happened yesterday in New York City," Biden began. "The American principle that no one is above the law was reaffirmed. Donald Trump was given every opportunity to defend himself. It was a state case, not a federal case, and it was heard by a jury of 12 citizens, 12 Americans, and 12 people like you."

"Like millions of Americans who served on juries, this jury was chosen the same way that every jury in America was chosen. It was a process that Donald Trump's attorney was a part of. The jury heard five weeks of evidence, five weeks, and after careful deliberation, the jury reached a unanimous verdict. They found Donald Trump guilty on all 34 felony counts," he continued. "Now he will be given the opportunity as he should to appeal that decision just like everyone else has that opportunity. That's how the American system of justice works."

"And it's reckless, it's dangerous, and it's irresponsible for anyone to say this is rigged just because they don't like the verdict," the 81-year-old Democrat claimed. "Our justice system has endured for nearly 250 years, and it literally is the cornerstone of America. The justice system should be respected, and we should never allow anyone to tear it down. It's as simple as that. That's America. That's who we are, and that's who we will always be, God willing."
