On Tuesday, the Department of Justice released the official transcript of Special Counsel Robert Hur's interview with President Joe Biden in his case, investigating whether the 81-year-old Democrat mishandled classified documents following his vice presidency. Following the report, which concluded that Biden should not be charged and explained that Biden forgot when his son Beau died, President Biden refuted Hur's claims of multiple mental lapses and attempted to attack him for bringing up his son Beau. The transcript, however, shows that President Biden was the one who brought up Beau's death and not the special counsel.
During the interview, Biden brought up Beau's death in relation to a book he had written in 2017, two years after his eldest son passed away. "What month did Beau die? Oh God, May 30th...." Biden asked himself during the interview, according to the transcript. The White House lawyer then chimed in to remind the president that Beau died in 2015. "'Was it 2015 he died?" Biden asked aloud.
The transcript shows clearly that Hur's assessment of the elderly president was correct, given that he got the date of Beau's death wrong within several years and that it was Biden, not Hur, who brought up the event. Despite this, Biden still attempted to refute the claim during a surprise press conference he held following the report's release. "How in the hell dare he raise that?" Biden asked the press about Beau's death. "Frankly, when I was asked the question, I thought to myself: it wasn't any of their damn business."
Special Counsel Robert Hur is appearing in front of the House Judiciary Committee on Tuesday to explain his report in more detail and take questions from Republican lawmakers who are keen to get a better understanding of why the president was not charged, given Hur's report concludes that Biden "willfully retained classified materials after the end of his Vice Presidency, when he was a private citizen."
President Trump took to Truth Social to respond to the transcript's release, writing, "Big day in Congress for the Biden Documents Hoax. He had many times more documents, including classified documents, than I, or any other president, had. He had them all over the place, with ZERO supervision or security. He does NOT come under the Presidential Records Act, I DO. He had many docs in CHINATOWN, and they were moved all over the place, and heavily used. My boxes were moved by GSA, were secure, most carried clothing, shoes, sporting equipment, kitchen '"stuff,'" newspapers, pictures, magazines, awards, etc. The DOJ gave Biden, and virtually every other person and President, a free pass. Me, I'm still fighting!!! MAGA."
The Hur interview transcript is a damning indictment of the president's lack of mental acuity and shows that he is willing to lie to the public to cover up for his memory issues. Special Counsel Hur clearly laid out in his report that Biden is a "well-meaning, elderly man with a poor memory," and the American people should take that into account when they head to the ballot box in November.
🚨SPECIAL COUNSEL ROBERT HUR: "We identified evidence that President Biden willfully retained classified materials after the end of his Vice Presidency, when he was a private citizen."
