WATCH: President Trump Pledges To Cut Energy Prices By At Least Half In First Year Of Second Term - 'I Promise'

During a campaign rally in Asheville, North Carolina, Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump pledged to get America back on its feet by eliminating high prices and lowering energy costs by half within the first 12 to 18 months of his second term in office. The pledge comes as America deals with the consequences of high energy prices, the impact of inflation, and a slowing economy.

"I am announcing today that under my leadership, the United States will commit to the ambitious goal of slashing energy prices by at least half," Trump said. "We intend to slash prices by half within 12 months and at a maximum of 18 months...We are looking to cut them in half, and we think we'll be able to do better. Every single thing that I promise, I produced. Every single thing. You will never have had energy so low as you will under a certain gentleman, Donald J. Trump. So we think you'll energy bills will be down 50 to 70 percent."

In addition to making the ambitious pledge, the 45th president explained the devastating impact of the Biden-Harris economy on the average American. He explained that real earnings are down at a record rate as price hikes have led American households to incur more than $28,000 in extra expenses. "You're paying the price for Kamala's liberal extremism at the gas pump, at the grocery counter, and on your mortgage bill," Trump said. "We are not going to let this incompetent socialist lunatic keep breaking our economy for four more years. On Election Day, we are going to tell her that we've had enough. We can't take it anymore."

"With four more years of Harris, your finances will never recover," the 45th president asserted. "Vote Trump and your incomes will soar, your savings will grow, young people will be able to afford a home, and we will bring back the American Dream, bigger, better, and stronger than ever before."

The president also pointed out that Vice President Kamala Harris and Gov. Tim Walz (D-MN) want to run the entire American economy despite lacking private-sector experience. "Kamala Harris wants to be in charge of the entire U.S. economy— but neither she nor her running mate... has ever held a private-sector job in their entire professional careers. It's no wonder they're both socialists." The president explained that once voters begin to learn more about the Harris-Walz ticket and their record, they will be more than happy to vote against the Democratic ticket. "This November, voters are going to give radical liberal Kamala Harris the opportunity to try something new, a real job in the private sector for the first time in her life," Trump told the crowd.
