WATCH: Rep. Matt Gaetz Reveals There Are Five Assassination Teams Targeting President Trump

During an interview on Real America's Voice on Thursday, Rep. Matt Gaetz (R-FL) revealed that a senior Department of Homeland Security official revealed to him that there are allegedly five assassination teams targeting 45th President Donald Trump as he continues his campaign to retake the White House. Gaetz's revelation comes after Trump survived two assassination attempts on July 13 in Butler, Pennsylvania, and on September 15 at the Trump International Golf Course in West Palm Beach, Florida.

"I had a senior official from the Department of Homeland Security in my office before the second assassination attempt saying what he has assessed is that there are five known assassination teams in the United States. Three inspired by other governments. Two that are here that are known domestic assassination teams. With that, this individual was coming to me concerned that the force protection around President Trump, even prior to that second assassination attempt, was not sufficient for what it needed to be and that coordination at that level, at the dignitary protection level, is like the bare minimum that we have to do to keep our presidents and our presidential candidates safe while they're on the trail."

"Five teams that we know are targeting Trump, so that raises real questions about why certain teams were being pulled off of the Trump detail and put on the Jill Biden detail," Gaetz said about the distribution of Secret Service assets on July 13. "Now, we don't want anything to happen to Jill Biden, but at the same time, the threat envelope for her was substantially different than the threat envelope around President Trump, and it would not have necessitated pulling assets away from the Trump detail."

Following the first attempted assassination attempt against Trump, the Secret Service ramped up security to the presidential level amid the growing threat to the Republican candidate's life. "He had the same coverage as the sitting president as he had last Sunday. And we're talking mainly today with Secret Service," Rep. Mike Kelly (R-PA), chairman of the task force responsible for investigating the shooting on July 13, explained to reporters. "I came away today feeling that the Secret Service on this past Sunday was treating it the same way as when President Trump was a sitting president."

According to Fox News, the top Democrat on the task force, Rep. Jason Crow (D-CO), said that President Biden ordered increased protection to both Harris and Trump. "It's our understanding that after July 13 that, President Biden ordered the Secret Service to provide the same level of security to both Vice President [Kamala] Harris and to former President Trump that would be a presidential level security, commensurate with what the president would receive, and that that security is being provided."

The various threats against President Trump should have all Americans worried about his safety, and the Secret Service should be held responsible for its failures in recent weeks. The security of the president and those running to replace him is paramount, and failure is not an option.
