This week, former collegiate swimmer Riley Gaines announced on ‘Fox & Friends’ that she will be pursuing legal action against those who held her hostage following an event at San Francisco State University.
The female athlete, who has been a vocal critic of transgender individuals in sports after being defeated by Lia Thomas at a collegiate swimming competition, was speaking at an event at SFSU with Turning Point USA.
A clip that went viral showed Gaines being ushered through a hallway by police while transgender advocates pursued her while screaming profanities at the former athlete.
Ultimately, the police barricaded Gaines in a safe room for three hours as the agitators at one point negotiated for cash payment for Gaines’ release.
“The prisoners are running the asylum at SFSU…I was ambushed and physically hit twice by a man. This is proof that women need sex-protected spaces,” Gaines wrote on Twitter with the viral clip attached. “Still only further assures me I’m doing something right. When they want you silent, speak louder.”

The clip gained national attention with Speaker of the House Kevin McCarthy (R-CA) writing, “This is an appalling attack on free speech on a college campus. House Republicans stand with Riley Gaines and her brave and tireless efforts to protect women’s sports.”

BREAKING: GREG ABBOTT TAKES ACTION FOLLOWING PERSECUTION BY SOROS-FUNDED DA OF SGT. DANIEL PERRY
Gaines joined ‘Fox & Friends’ to discuss the harrowing event when she announced that she’d be taking legal action to hold the agitators accountable.
“Well first of all nothing has happened to the people who assaulted me,” she said. “The campus police did nothing. The Dean of Students was there and did nothing. There will be no repercussions unless I have something to do with it.”
“I will be pursuing legal action. These people need to face repercussions,” Gaines explained. “I was barricaded because after my speech an ambush of people entered the classroom, turned off the lights, and attacked me.”
“I got escorted out of the room and was immediately pushed into that room that we saw on the video and I was trapped in there for three hours,” she added.
With the harrowing events of the past week now behind Gaines, she appears to be adamant about holding those who held her hostage for three hours accountable. Hopefully, the lawsuit being brought by her will make agitators like those at SFSU think twice before stifling freedom of speech.
