On the 22nd anniversary of the 9/11 attacks, former New York City Mayor Rudy Guiliani joined 'The Benny Johnson Show' to remember the day. During the discussion, America's Mayor recounted his work with Donald Trump, who was a major New York City real estate mogul, after the tragedy.
"Donald Trump was among ten or twelve of our civic leaders that did the most to help us," Guiliani said about Trump. "There were certain people that really stepped up."
"They took it very very seriously right from the first day," Guiliani continued. "He helped us in so many different ways including material that we would have a hard time getting because he was in the construction business. Not only his own money but putting us in contact with people where we could raise money. I started my own charity just for my firefighters and police officers called the Twin Towers fund."
"We raised $240 million and we distributed every penny to the firefighters' and police officers' families and we paid the administrative costs separately," he said about his charity's success. "Donald Trump helped us do that."
Guiliani went on to recount how Trump was "constantly volunteering" alongside ten to twelve other businessmen who helped the city following 9/11.
"Up until the time he was running for president, no one ever thought of Donald other than as a very generous, philanthropic New Yorker that would help you," the former mayor explained. "And sometimes he would go out of his way to help you in unorthodox ways like he would see someone who needed money and he would come up with $5,000."
"The other thing that drives me nuts is I hear this racism stuff or this anti-Semitism stuff. I don't know a guy who has more friends who are black, Jewish, Italian, everything. The guy just likes people," Guiliani explained. "It was always merit or friendship. What they are doing to him...this is unprecedented. It's because he is so dangerous, he really is. This is a credit to how effective he is. They are afraid that he is going to destroy how they have been milking this country for years."

Prior to his run for office, Donald Trump was known nationwide as a caring businessman who assisted those around him. He gave up his business career and a luxurious lifestyle to fight for the country and he should be commemorated for that sacrifice.
