WATCH: Steve Bannon Says He's 'Not Afraid To Go To Prison' In New Tucker Carlson Interview

During a recent interview with conservative commentator Tucker Carlson, former Trump advisor Steve Bannon revealed that he's not afraid to go to prison amid the ongoing political "war." Bannon was ordered to surrender to prison on July 1 after Judge Carl Nichols refused to stay the four-month prison sentence he received for disobeying a subpoena from the January 6 Committee.

Bannon, who is now the second Trump advisor to head to prison after Peter Navarro began his four-month sentence earlier this year, attempted to appeal his conviction last month, but the U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia rejected his efforts. Bannon has repeatedly said that executive privilege gave him the authority to not cooperate with congressional investigators; however, that argument didn't hold up with the judges.

Following the ruling, Bannon said he would appeal the decision to the Supreme Court but explained to Carlson that he's not afraid to serve time behind bars. "This is an illegitimate regime of neo-Marxists. From the Justice Department to the FBI, the Wall Street crowd. You see this everywhere in our society, the attacks on the family, and they play for keeps," Bannon said, adding that Carlson, himself, and many others understand that the ongoing political battle is a "war to the knife."

"We have to win this. If we don't win this, this country is going to devolve into some kind of neo-Marxist totalitarian regime," the former Trump advisor continued. "We're pretty far down the road right now. That's why I don't fear going to prison. I know it's going to take my voice off. The war is still going on, and I keep saying it's the next man up. You can't lean on Trump, you can't lean on Tucker, you can't lean on Bannon, you can't lean on Alex Jones. This is a populist revolt. You have to step up and do it yourself. You have to dive in more. You have to do more media sharing. Become a force multiplier."

Presumptive GOP nominee Donald Trump wrote on Truth Social following the conviction that Bannon being ordered to jail is a tragedy. "It is a Total and Complete American Tragedy that the Crooked Joe Biden Department of Injustice is so desperate to jail Steve Bannon, and every other Republican, for that matter, for not SUBMITTING to the Unselect Committee of Political Thugs, made up of all Democrats, and two CRAZED FORMER REPUBLICAN LUNATICS, Cryin' Adam Kinzinger, and Liz 'Out of Her Mind' Cheney," Trump wrote on Turth Social.

"It has been irrefutably proven that it was the Unselects who committed actual crimes when they deleted and destroyed all material evidence, in a pathetic attempt to protect Crazy Nancy Pelosi and other Democrats from the TRUTH — THAT I DID ABSOLUTELY NOTHING WRONG," he continued. "The unAmerican Weaponization of our Law Enforcement has reached levels of Illegality never thought possible before. INDICT THE UNSELECT J6 COMMITTEE FOR ILLEGALLY DELETING AND DESTROYING ALL OF THEIR 'FINDINGS!' MAGA2024."
