WATCH: Sunny Hostin Says Reaction To Kamala's Fox News Interview Was Racist, Sexist - 'I Am Very Tired Of This Trope'

Following Vice President Kamala Harris' fiery interview with Fox News host Bret Baier on Wednesday, Sunny Hostin joined MSNBC to discuss her perspective on how the Democratic presidential candidate handled the 25 minutes of combative questioning. The co-host of ABC's "The View" said that she believed that commentators were promoting a stereotypical trope by claiming that Harris was getting angry during the interview.

"I saw a little bit of the panel after the interview, and one woman said that she came in hot and also said that she became angrier. I thought that he came in hot. And what I am very tired of this trope of the angry, black woman," she said. "She was not angry. She was in command of the facts. She was passionate. Passion does not equal anger. You know, I'm often called... Donald Trump actually called me dumb at a rally recently. You have these tropes that are used against women and women of color in particular. I did not see a dumb woman. I did not see an angry woman. I saw a woman who understands what is at stake."

As previously reported by the DC Enquirer, Harris became visibly angry, or passionate as Hostin would say, after Baier asked her whether she had noticed any decline in President Joe Biden's mental faculties. "You called Donald Trump misguided. You say now he's unstable, he's not well, you say he's mentally not stable," Baier said as Harris repeatedly interrupted him. "Let me ask you this. You told many interviewers that Joe Biden was on his game and that he ran circles around his staff. When did you first notice that President Biden's mental faculties appear diminished?"

"Joe Biden, I have watched from the Oval Office to the Situation Room, and he has the judgment and the experience to do exactly what he has done in making very important decisions on behalf of the American people," Harris said. Baier attempted to ask Harris if there were any concerns raised about his mental decline, to which Harris yelled, "Bret, Joe Biden is not on the ballot!"

After Harris attempted to argue that Donald Trump was the one on the ballot and not Joe Biden, Bret Baier pushed her on comments made by actor and Democratic fundraiser George Clooney. The Fox host explained that Clooney wrote in an op-ed in the New York Times that after speaking with Biden during a fundraiser in Los Angeles earlier this year, the president was not the same man he once was. "Bret, Donald Trump is on the ballot," Harris responded.

While Sunny Hostin can attempt to explain away Harris's anger as passion, the American people will ultimately be the judge on whether the vice president will be able to keep her cool as president when dealing with confrontational world leaders. Her performance in the Fox News interview likely doesn't reassure swing voters who wonder if Kamala has the presidential temperament.
