WATCH: Transgender Activists Storm Texas Capitol, Bill Banning Puberty Blockers For Minors Delayed

On Tuesday, LGBTQ activists stormed the Texas legislature to protest the potential passing of Senate Bill 14 which seeks to ban puberty blockers and hormone therapy for children.

The activists filled the chamber and yelled out slogans like “Protect Trans Kids” and “Trans rights are human rights.”

State police then moved in to remove the demonstrators from the chambers where they proceeded to chant and demonstrate outside the House floor, as reported by The Texas Tribune.

At one point, a state trooper and protesters got into an altercation leading to the arrest of one demonstrator. The demonstration wasn’t responsible for the delay in voting for SB 14. The delay was caused by a parliamentary procedure and will be voted on later this week.

“Do not be intimidated friends, keep smiling, stay peaceful, let the other side show their true colors,” wrote the Texas GOP on Twitter

“The Anti-Family Left is relishing it’s last moments of being able to mutilate children,” wrote the Texas Family Project. “Sickening. SB14 must pass.”

REPUBLICAN SCORE A MAJOR WIN IN OKLAHOMA, CHILD GENDER TRANSITION SURGERIES ARE NOW A FELONY

“House Speaker [Dade Phelan] orders the Sgt. at Arms to clear the gallery after LGBTQ protesters and allies break out into chants against SB 14, which would ban gender affirming care for minors,” wrote reporter Ryan Chandler.

Similar laws have been passed in other states, as previously reported by the DC Enquirer.

On Monday, Governor Kevin Stitt (R-OK) signed into law Senate Bill 613, causing any healthcare worker to receive a felony charge if they provide children under the age of 18 gender change surgery, puberty-blocking drugs, or hormone doses that suppress or delay normal puberty. It also outright bans any medications or surgeries that are intended for gender transition.

Oklahoma is now the 16th state to have either banned or restricted transgender surgery for children, with over 20 states in the country currently considering the passing of similar measures.

The Texas GOP’s efforts to pass SB 14 will prove to be a major victory for protecting children in the Lone Star State. Hopefully, the bill will be passed next week following the brief delay.
