WATCH: President Trump Pays Tribute To 13 Servicemembers Killed During Afghanistan Withdrawal On Third Anniversary Of Abbey Gate Bombing

On Monday, 45th President Donald Trump paid tribute to the 13 servicemembers who lost their lives during the Biden-Harris administration's costly withdrawal from Afghanistan that culminated in the deadly bombing at Abbey Gate by an ISIS-K terrorist. While Trump honored the men and women who gave their lives defending the evacuation from Bagram Air Base in Kabul three years ago, President Biden and Vice President Harris refused to make an appearance and instead held internal meetings.

President Trump was joined at Arlington National Cemetary for a wreath-laying ceremony at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier by some of the family members of the 13 servicemembers killed in Afghanistan. President Trump and his campaign have routinely highlighted the evacuation as a major foreign policy failure of the Biden-Harris administration that humiliated the American military on the world stage.

"This is the third anniversary of the BOTCHED Afghanistan withdrawal, the most EMBARRASSING moment in the history of our Country," Trump posted on Truth Social. "Gross Incompetence – 13 DEAD American soldiers, hundreds of people wounded and dead, AMERICANS, and BILLIONS OF DOLLARS OF MILITARY EQUIPMENT LEFT BEHIND. You don't take our soldiers out first, you take them out LAST, when all else is successfully done. Russia then invaded Ukraine, Israel was attacked, and the USA became, and is, a laughing stock all over the World."

While President Biden and Vice President Harris did not appear at Arlington, they did issue a statement. "Today and everyday, I mourn and honor them. My prayers are with their families and loved ones," Harris said. "My heart breaks for their pain and their loss.  These 13 devoted patriots represent the best of America, putting our beloved nation and their fellow Americans above themselves and deploying into danger to keep their fellow citizens safe."

The Democratic presidential candidate emphasized that Biden made the "courageous and right decision" to withdraw from the country and end the war in Afghanistan. "Over the past three years, our Administration has demonstrated we can still eliminate terrorists, including the leaders of al-Qaeda and ISIS, without troops deployed into combat zones," she said. "I will never hesitate to take whatever action necessary to counter terrorist threats and protect the American people and the homeland."

The brave men and women who lost their lives on August 26, 2021, at Abbey Gate are as follows: Marine Corps Staff Sgt. Darin T. Hoover, 31, of Salt Lake City, Utah; Marine Corps Sgt.
