On Thursday, leading Republican presidential candidate and 45th President Donald Trump shared a hilarious video on Truth Social, Instagram, and other platforms showing President Biden in a fake ad for "White House Senior Living." The ad has since garnered millions of views and is a hit with fans of President Trump.
The ad features multiple clips of Biden seemingly struggling with his age, including clips of him falling asleep and being unable to get his jacket on. "At White House senior living, our residents feel right at home. Our vibrant facility offers delightful activities and outings, around-the-clock professional care, and exquisite house-made meals," an ad narrator says. "White House Senior Living, where residents feel like presidents."
The post has gotten tremendous attention online, particularly after Trump shared it on his platforms. On Truth Social, the post has nearly 14,000 likes and over 5,000 retruths. On Instagram, the post has over 375,000 ikes and over 11,000 comments. The post has also garnered millions of views across multiple accounts on X/Twitter.
The ad, while clearly satire, does point to a truth that is becoming increasingly clear to millions of Americans. The elderly 81-year-old Joe Biden is not up to the task of leading the United States, and his age is starting to take its toll. This is most apparent when Biden is seen falling asleep in important meetings with world leaders and everyday Americans. One of the clips featured in the ad was from a community engagement at the Lahaina Civic Center following the devastating Maui wildfires that killed hundreds last year. In the clip, President Biden can be seen briefly falling asleep during the event while surrounded by various members of the community.
According to a Reuters/Ipsos poll from September 2023, 75 percent of respondents, including 65 percent of Democrats, said that Biden was too old to be president. In addition, only 39 percent of respondents said he was mentally sharp enough to occupy the White House. If reelected, by the time Biden begins his second term, he will be 82, and once he finishes another four years, by 2029, he will be 86. His age is already impacting him significantly both in his official duties and on the campaign trail. Another four years of Biden would likely result in a man who is a shadow of his former self as the most stressful job in the world takes its toll on his mental and physical health.
