On Wednesday, conservative commentator Tucker Carlson revealed that he will be holding a live broadcast in response to President Joe Biden's State of the Union address on Thursday evening. Biden's address will be one of the most watched political events this year as the 2024 presidential election quickly approaches.
"Fuck it. We'll do it live! Thursday night, March 7, our live response to Joe Biden's State of the Union speech," Tucker wrote on X, alongside a video that referenced the infamous outtake clip of Bill O'Reilly telling producers on 'Inside Edition' in 2008 to put out a broadcast on live television. Carlson, who normally releases prerecorded responses to world events, will react to the president's address beginning at 10 PM EST.
The State of the Union, a televised speech by the president in front of both chambers of Congress, will begin on Thursday at 9 PM EST. Biden reportedly has spent hours at Camp David preparing for the highly anticipated address. "You'll hear me on Thursday," he told reporters when asked about his preparations, per The New York Times. Biden's aides have reportedly been working on the speech since December, and it will cover a plethora of topics, including the war in Ukraine, the ongoing conflict between Israel and Hamas, abortion, immigration, the economy, and other topics.
In addition to Carlson's response, the Republican response will be made by Sen. Katie Britt (R-AL). "At this decisive moment in our country's history, it's time for the next generation to step up and preserve the American Dream for our children and our grandchildren," she said in a statement.
Millions of Americans will view Biden's State of the Union address, and reactions to it will fill headlines for weeks. Carlson's commentary, however, will be widely watched, given his growing audience among America First conservatives. Those interested can tune in on TuckerCarlson.com or on X.
