On Monday, it was announced that Tucker Carlson will be leaving Fox News. As conservatives across the media landscape took in the news, a recent speech that Carlson made at The Heritage Foundation’s 50th Anniversary gala is going viral once again.
“Fox News Media and Tucker Carlson have agreed to part ways,” the network said in a statement, according to Forbes.
“We thank him for his service to the network as a host and prior to that as a contributor,” Fox continued in its statement. “Mr. Carlson’s last program was Friday, April 21st. Fox News Tonight will air live at 8 PM/ET starting this evening as an interim show helmed by rotating FOX News personalities until a new host is named.”
Carlson’s speech at the Heritage anniversary event focused on refocusing the conservative movement on what they are really fighting against, putting the focus in starkly theological terms of good versus evil.
“It might be time to reassess the terms we use to describe what we are watching,” Carlson said, adding that in the past everyone agreed that policymakers were seeking the same objective of bettering America.
FOX NEWS SEES STOCK CRASH AFTER TUCKER CARLSON DEPARTURE
“I don’t think that’s what we are watching now at all. I don’t think we are watching a debate about how to get the best outcome. I think that’s completely wrong,” the former Fox host said.
“I’m just saying this as an observer of what’s going on. There is no way to assess say the transgenderist movement with that mindset. Policy papers don’t account for it at all,” Carlson explained. “If you have people saying ‘I have an idea, let’s castrate the next generation. Let’s sexually mutilate children.’ I’m sorry that’s not a political debate. That has nothing to do with politics.”
“I don’t think anyone could defend that as a positive outcome but the weight of the government and a lot of corporate interests are behind that,” he continued, adding that those who argue that abortion is a positive good is a call for “child sacrifice.”
“None of this makes sense in conventional political terms,” Carlson explained, adding that it is destruction for its own sake. “What you are watching is not a political movement. It is evil.”
Tucker Carslon’s departure from Fox News is a major blow to the network and the speech Carlson made last week highlights that. Carlson is the spokesperson for the conservative populist right and Americans will follow him to his next endeavor.
