'We Want Peace': Sen. JD Vance Speaks At October 7 Memorial Rally On National Mall In Washington, D.C.

On Monday, Sen. JD Vance (R-OH) held an event on the National Mall in Washington, D.C., to commemorate the first anniversary of the October 7 terrorist attack that resulted in the murder of nearly 1,200 Israelis and 46 American citizens. The event, organized by The Philos Project, was attended by thousands and will conclude with a march through the nation's capital.

"We stand with Israel today and unequivocally condemn anti-Semitism whether it's in Israel, the Middle East, or in our own country," Vance explained to the crowd. "Because we want peace more than anything else and because we'd like to prevent this from becoming a broader regional conflict, we support Israel's right to exist, defend itself, and do what it takes to end the war."

Vance also took time to call out the left-wing progressives that have demanded a ceasefire between Hamas and the Israeli Defense Force. "There are literal pro-Hamas protesters across the country calling for a ceasefire, and what they are really calling for is a unilateral surrender," the Republican vice presidential candidate said. "I have a different message: The only way this war is going to end is when Hamas gives up its arms, stops fighting, and lets the hostages come home."

While Sen. Vance speaks at an event honoring those who lost their lives on October 7 in Washington, D.C., his running mate, 45th President Donald Trump, will be holding similar events in New York and Florida. President Trump will visit Rabbi Menachem Mendel Schneerson's grave in New York City to honor the legacy of the leader of the Chabad-Lubavitch movement of Orthodox Judaism. The president will then head to one of his resorts in Doral, Florida, to hold a Remembrance Event for those who lost their lives on October 7. The events come as about a hundred people, including a handful of Americans, remain in captivity. In a statement, Trump campaign National Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt explained that the brutal terrorist attack would not have occurred under President Trump's leadership and that he would "end the bloodshed" if he was given four more years in the White House.

"Today, President Trump will commemorate the one-year anniversary of October 7th with a visit to Ohel Chabad Lubavitch, the final resting place of Rabbi Schneerson in New York, and he will give remarks at an October 7th Remembrance Event in Florida," the Trump campaign spokeswoman said. "The atrocities, including the slaughtering and capturing of innocent Israelis and Americans, that took place on October 7th would have never happened if President Trump were still in the White House. For Americans and Israelis alike, it's imperative that President Trump is re-elected so he can end the bloodshed caused by an emboldened Iranian terrorist regime, which is stronger and richer today from the Harris-Biden Administration's incompetence and weak policies."

While President Trump attends events in two states, Vice President Kamala Harris will plant a pomegranate tree on the grounds of the Vice President's Residence at the Naval Observatory in Washington, D.C., to honor those who lost their lives a year ago. Harris' husband, Dough Emhoff, attended an event held by the American Jewish Committee while President Joe Biden had a memorial ceremony at the White House.
