“The View” co-host Whoopi Goldberg sparred with panelist Ana Navarro Monday as she assured people that Americans should not “panic” about President-elect Donald Trump.
Despite having panicked about Trump before his reelection, Goldberg said Americans should relax and focus on their personal lives rather than fretting about Trump’s upcoming presidency. Navarro argued that illegal immigrants and women in the Department of Defense (DOD) do not have the luxury of not worrying about the next administration.
“All we have to do from now until January 21 is be with our families, be with our kids, do our jobs, make sure our checks don’t bounce, make sure that we are taking care of ourselves and our families. Whatever he’s gonna do, he’s gonna do, but do take our word for it, things seem to move slowly because yeah, they didn’t come get Hillary [Clinton], but he has other people who are ready to go. But I don’t think that they can just go out and do what they want to do,” Goldberg said, leading to pushback from Navarro. “Ana, you tell people to stay fraught and like this.”
“No, I’m telling people to prepare, Whoopi,” Navarro shot back. “I’m telling people to prepare. That means that they can’t be relaxing and enjoying Christmas when winter is coming.”

Goldberg said people do not even know what they are panicking over and should fight once it is necessary.
“We have to figure out what we’re panicking for,” Goldberg said. “We don’t know what we’re panicking for. They’re throwing 50,000 things at you to make you do this. I’m saying, don’t buy into that. Do what you have to do, take care of your family and when we know what is happening, when we know what we’re fighting, then we’ll get out and fight.”
Goldberg, a staunch critic of Trump, has continuously referred to the president-elect as “you know who” for the last several seasons to avoid saying his name on-air. Before the election, the longtime co-host alleged without evidence that Trump intended to break up racial marriages, deport the non-white spouse and place their white partner with someone else.
“[Trump’s] not going to say, ‘oh, well, you know, you’re with a white guy I’m gonna keep you from being deported,'” Goldberg said during an Oct. 28 segment. “No, he’s going to deport you and put the white guy with somebody else. The man is out there!”
Goldberg also warned in January that Trump wants to “round up” journalists and gay people to make them mysteriously “disappear.”
“‘I’m going to take all the journalists, I’m going to take all the gay folks, and I’ll move you all around and disappear you,'” Goldberg said while describing Trump’s alleged views. “If that’s the country you want, you know who to vote for.”
The co-host had argued that Trump is a threat to the nation and uses dangerous, violent rhetoric immediately following the second assassination attempt against the now-president-elect in September. She, along with the other panelists, recently attempted to justify the pardoning of Hunter Biden by arguing Trump intended to use “retribution and vindictiveness” against his political opponents during a Dec. 2 segment.
