With Senator Fetterman in the Hospital, One Would Expect His Wife to Be By His Side – She Flees the Country Instead

Last week, Senator John Fetterman (D-PA) was checked into Walter Reed National Military Medical Center to receive treatment for clinical depression, as reported by the DC Enquirer.

Following this, Gisele Barreto Fetterman, the wife of Senator Fetterman, announced on Twitter last Friday that she and her children had left the country as Senator Fetterman began his stay at Walter Reed.

“I am not really sure how to navigate this journey but am figuring it out slowly. 1 week ago today when the news dropped, the kids were off from school and media trucks circled our home. I did the first thing I could think of … pack them in the car and drive,” Gisele said on Twitter.

In a follow-up tweet, Mrs. Fetterman stated that the family drove up to Canada through Buffalo, NY, adding, “Pro Tip: always have passports ready just in case you have to run away.”

According to Mrs. Fetterman, the family spent some time at Niagra Falls as well, “We did some scary things but we did them together.”

BREAKING: JOHN FETTERMAN TAKEN TO WALTER REED HOSPITAL, SECOND HOSPITAL VISIT IN ONE WEEK

Questions have been mounting about the health and well-being of newly elected Senator John Fetterman for months on end. In May of last year, Fetterman suffered a stroke while on the campaign trail, which raised concerns about his fitness to serve after a serious medical episode. Throughout the campaign, Fetterman would stumble over and mix up his words and would appear disoriented and confused. Regardless, he managed to defeat Republican Mehemet Oz in November 2022 by roughly five points.

On February 8th, Fetterman was rushed to the hospital after stating he was feeling “lightheaded,” with staffers worried about the potential of another stroke. “Towards the end of the Senate Democratic retreat today, Senator John Fetterman began feeling lightheaded,” a statement from his office stated. “Initial tests did not show evidence of a new stroke, but doctors are running more tests and John is remaining overnight for observation.”

These instances, coupled with Fetterman’s recent hospitalization, have raised concerns over whether or not Fetterman is fit to serve as senator. In the event he resigns, Pennsylvania Governor Josh Shapiro (D) would nominate a replacement that would serve through 2024.

Regardless, one can only hope that Senator Fetterman makes a speedy recovery and makes the decision that is best not only for himself, but for the people of Pennsylvania.
