Chicago Mother Motivated To Join Police Force After Losing Son In Shooting: ‘It’s A Hard Pill To Swallow’

A mother whose son was shot and killed during a recent shooting in Chicago said Thursday that she is using the tragedy as “motivation and courage,” to work toward becoming a member of the Chicago Police Department.

Ollie Jean Holiness’ son, Jeremiah Moore, 7, was shot and killed in a drive-by shooting while he slept inside the family van near East Chicago.

“It was just a regular night… my son thought he heard fireworks and before I knew it, my car was being ambushed,” Holiness explained on “Fox and Friends.”

Host Ainsley Earhardt asked the mother what the other children — who were in the car at the time — were thinking when the tragedy occurred.

“You stopped to get gas and after you got gas you continued to drive… and this red Dodge Charger comes up next to you and just fires shots into your car and one of them hits your son in the head. What was happening inside the car and what was the reaction of your other children that were in the car?” she asked.

“My oldest son thought he heard fireworks and that’s when I looked around,” Holiness replied. “It started to dawn on me that those aren’t fireworks, the bullets are actually ricocheting off of my car.”

Holiness, who has wanted to serve in law enforcement her whole life, told Fox she plans to join the CPD as soon as she recovers from her pregnancy, and is physically able to complete the entrance exam.

“It defiantly gives me more motivation and courage to keep pushing,” she proclaimed. “As a mother, there’s no moving on. I carried this baby for nine months. I got a chance to learn who he is and who he could possibly be in the future and… there is nothing in this world that can make you actually get over it. There is no getting over this, it’s a hard pill to swallow.”

The dangerous policies being pursued in Chicago by Mayor Lori Lightfoot (D) have led to drastic spikes in crime and a diminishing police force powerless to protect its people.

Radical left-wing policies have consequences, and this mother — along with so many others — will never hold her child ever again, due to the negligence and indifference of the Windy City’s local leaders.
