Creators of ‘Jesus Revolution’ Announce New Movie With Oscar Winner Hilary Swank

Last week, the studio behind ‘Jesus Revolution’ announced a new film, titled ‘Ordinary Angels’, which is set to debut later this year in October.

“We’re thrilled to announce the newest film from Kingdom Story Company and Lionsgate—ORDINARY ANGELS, coming to theaters October 13, 2023,” the studio wrote in a Facebook post. “Starring Hilary Swank and Alan Ritchson, ORDINARY ANGELS is the incredible true story of a struggling hairdresser who single-handedly rallies an entire community to help a widowed father save the life of his critically ill young daughter.”

“We can’t wait to share more with you in the coming months!” they added, as reported by Breitbart.

The director, Jon Gunn, said that the film is ‘powerful’, as reported by Christian Headlines.

“The story of Sharon Stevens and the Schmitt family is a powerful reminder that helping others is how we heal ourselves,” Gunn said. “I can’t think of a message I’d rather share with the world right now, and I’m honored to be telling it with such a fearless and talented cast.”

The Oscar award-winning actress Hilary Swank explained that the film is a “powerful reminder that angels reside everywhere among us.”

“It’s also a story about the power of organ donation — something incredibly near and dear to my heart,” Swank said. “I couldn’t be more thrilled to be a part of this story and message.”

Her co-star Alan Ritchson explained that the film truly shows what can happen when the best is brought out in people.

“I’m an optimist. I believe the best in people. I believe that sometimes we just need to be reminded of the power of what we can do together. This is why I was drawn to Ordinary Angels.”

Following the success of ‘Jesus Revolution’, this new film will likely bring in just as many audiences to the theater given its heartwarming story.

As of this report, ‘Jesus Revolution’ has grossed $46,363,561, according to Box Office Mojo.

The film’s success, with only a 15 million budget, shows that audiences are longing for Christian-centric stories at the theaters. With the film nearly tripling its original investment, Lionsgate should be proud of its product given that it is their most successful film since 2019’s ‘Hitman’s Wife’s Bodyguard’ starring Ryan Reynolds, as previously reported by the DC Enquirer.

“The numbers are incredible, especially coming out of a pandemic,” said producer Kevin Downes to Christian Headlines, adding that Christians are “coming out in droves” and that they “are not going away.”
