As Sanctuary Cities Get Overwhelmed, Biden Administration Moves To Force Migrants To Stay In Texas

The Biden administration is finally considering doing something about the hoards of illegals crossing the US southern border every day, just not anything that would make a positive change. The administration is now floating the idea of forcing some of the migrant families who illegally came into the country to remain near the border in Texas until their asylum screening is complete.

According to the Los Angeles Times, the idea has yet to be finalized but the move would allow the administration to have an easier time deporting families who fail the asylum screening and serve as a deterrent to those hoping to come.

The plan would involve tracking illegal families through GPS location devices like ankle bracelets. It would ensure that those who need to complete their asylum screening would stay near the southern border until it was complete in the case that deportation is necessary.

Of course, there’s a far more simple solution to the overwhelming amount of migrants entering the country across the Rio Grande. All they would need to do is ramp up border security and ensure that these people don’t illegally cross the southern border in the first place, or simply reinstall the Remain in Mexico policy established under President Trump.

The plan, more than ensuring that they can deport illegals that fail the screening, is going to make it hard for Governor Greg Abbott (R-TX) to bus the migrant families to sanctuary cities like New York City and Chicago. These cities have been completely overrun by the migrants, seeing upwards of a hundred thousand illegals residing in the metroplexes and leeching off taxpayer funds.

They have been begging the Biden administration for federal intervention to take care of the migrants but have refused to revoke their status as a sanctuary city. On Wednesday, New York City Mayor Eric Adams said that the migrant crisis “will destroy New York City” and pinned the entirety of the blame on Governor Abbott, per the DC Enquirer

The latest considered idea by the Biden administration continues on their trend of refusing to properly address the issue while trying to appease potential voters who are miffed at their Democrat-run cities being overwhelmed by illegals. Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas has been at the front of the issue, spewing inconsistent lines that he has constantly had to backtrack on.

In April, the Homeland Security secretary said, “We have no plan to detain families. As I mentioned, we will be employing alternatives to detention, including some innovations in that regard, and we will on a case-by-case basis use enhanced alternatives to detention as warranted.”

Then in May, he said, “People who do not use available lawful pathways to enter the U.S. now face tougher consequences, including a minimum five-year ban on reentry and potential criminal prosecution”

As previously covered by the DC Enquirer, Mayorkas is currently facing a probe due to the massive number of dangerous individuals that crossed the southern border under his watch. Cartel violence on the border has also seen a massive rise during the Biden administration, adding another negative mark to the Homeland Security secretary’s record.
